You can't use the national champion as the sole determinant of the best conference. Otherwise the best conference in the country last year would have been the American Athletic Conference.

They're even the best at having two of their best 5 teams losing to Georgia State (without one of their starters) and fricking UAB.

That was a soul-suckingly terrible basketball game. Congrats to the Huggy Bear, but... ugh. That was awful.

Big 12 is the best conference in America.
However, they don't have any legit title contenders. It is a deep conference full of pretty good teams. No great ones, IMO.
That doesn't mean they can't be the best conference.
HOWEVER, I do think the conference was overrated in a sense that a lot of people thought the conference did have some great teams and one or two title contenders (Kansas, maybe Iowa State). It clearly doesn't have that, at least to me.
So it's the best conference, but not be the margin people wanted you to believe.
