People have stated it would be a two stroke penalty. Not a DQ.

Well, they're wrong. He would have signed an incorrect scorecard, that's a DQ no matter how you slice it. If it was caught prior to him signing the scorecard, it would have been a two stroke penalty.

I still think nothing will come of it.

I've stated in here, they altered that because of TV viewers calling in penalties

So, the moral of this thread, is you have never played in a legitimate competitive golf tournament

he should've kept the line between where the ball hit the stick and rolled back into the water if he wanted to move further back

I'm trying to understand why hitting the pin has anything to do with that.

Is it because it hit the pin before landing on the green?

Then it rolls left of the shot's line, which would move his drop to the left of the previous position. Ya'll are saying he should have moved, from the original position, to the left on the same line with where the ball went into the water?

It was explained in detail during the telecast, you should have paid attention

Yeah, this is the discrepancy. Was the point that he drops from the last point it crossed the hazard on his side, or where it crossed following hitting the pin.

The guy who explained just said he thinks it was illegal. During the telecast, they didn't know he dropped it 2 yards further back intentionally

The PGA Tour may have altered that. I doubt Augusta National did though.

Yep, shite you're right. I forgot about that changing after Villegas and Paddy were DQ'ed a couple years ago.

I know the rule book like the back of my hand, I understand the rules.

I want to know why YOU think it's legal. Not what came out of the telecast, but your explanation.

Because that is what caused his ball to LAST cross the hazard. Tiger's ball crossed the hazard margin 3 times, over the front margin, over the margin closest to the green, then after it hit the flag and rolled back into the hazard. The LAST place it crossed the hazard margin is the line you should drop on if you don't replay the shot.
