Just curious. Need to open one. Thinking of going sofi but figure I’d get some more opinions.

The Apple savings account is simple, pays well, and handy. I've been using it for a little bit now with no real complaints.
Discover is another great option. ETA: Reason here is good customer service and also still pays well, not quite as high as Apple savings.

As long as you're not using a sketchy overseas one that gives an extra half percent they're interchangeable. You shouldn't have an amount of money in there to where it makes much difference.
I use Amex just because I already had their cards.

none.
just put it in a brokerage account MM fund so you have it there ready to go for any investments while it earns 4.5 to 5% or whatever the current rate would be. i mean unless you can get a rate way above what a MMF gives i would not waste my time opening an account just for that with some other bank when it can be in a brokerage.

Discover. Decent rate. Was easy to schedule a wire transfer for house closing.
DO NOT USE CITIBANK. DO NOT. Terrible Terrible customer service. And if you do not live near a branch, your basically fricked if you have problems.

Capital one. FDIC insured. Make sure any you use is FDIC insured and then all the same

I’ve used all of the following and had no real problems
Citi- Lowest rate but fastest transfer, I keep a bit in here if I need it transferred to checking in a day or so
CIT- Solid rate, good functional app, but 5k min, my mom got locked out of her account once from incorrectly typing her password too many times and they were very helpful
BMO Alto- falling a bit behind on rates and no mobile app but no real concerns, good CD options
Openbank by Santander- Enticing rate and a decent mobile app, had my transfers put on hold once, called and got helped immediately from someone that appeared to be US based or at least had impeccable English skills, have read of a lot of others having trouble getting started here so might not be worth the hassle for better rate

You aren’t able to go into a Citibank. That’s the whole point of these online HYSA, they save overhead costs by making you use help by phone. You aren’t able to open Citi accelerate savings in states with actual branches.

That is exactly what i signed up for.
When i went to try and do a wire transfer to close on my house, the web application would not work. I started trying to do the wire transfer 3 weeks before closing. After 2 weeks of trying and failing, and calling citibank support EVERY DAY, it was still not resolved a week before closing.
The indians you get on the phone dont give a shite. "Just try it again tomorrow" was the answer.
The web application is the ONLY WAY to initiate a wire transfer. You cant just call and get someone to help if it is not working.
I had to drive from Dallas to the closest citibank branch in Sioux falls, South Dakota to get a cashiers check.
I swore i would never use citibank again, and warn everyone about this shite whenever i had the chance.

Opened an account here based on your recommendation and some research. Everything has been seamless so far.

Capital One 360. It’s who my credit card is through and it’s just easy to move money into and out of.

I’ve had no problems with Ally. Not the highest but very easy to use.

Why not just a vanguard brokerage account getting 4-5% right now?
VMFXX is 4.24% after fee.

I mentioned it in another thread but I find Lending Club really easy to use and now they have a level up savings account that is paying 4.75%.
