Who has ever asked you that? Or, who are you asking this to?

I've never had a single person ask me my net worth nor would I expect them to.

I agree. But I don’t include sentimental (valuable) items that would never be sold.

I'm hoping they don't need it all for college due to scholarships & GI Bill in which case I'll use it penalty free to fund their first 5 yrs of Roth IRA contributions.
Or, I'll keep it for grandkids some day. In no case do I plan on raiding it for myself.

For the record, I upvoted you paying off your 1700 credit card debt. Don’t be so sensitive Junior. Get off my lawn.

My net worth is negative 350.

And I tell the young guys all my mistakes and lessons learned. Hope it will help them.

"Close to $3 million currently."

ALL the down votes come from those with less than $3 million.

It is the difference between the market value of your assets and your debts/liabilities.
What's weird is that nobody ever seems to net fees and taxes as well.

Like, if you sold your house, there would be transaction costs - and possibly taxes.

Anybody expect to know exactly. My net fluctuates daily with the market, depreciation etc…. Pretty much an estimated amount.

Or maybe it’s because he has voluntarily announced his net worth twice in the last two days, and gave two different numbers $1 million apart

Two that come to mind are to purchase a franchise and to become an accredited investor with the SEC. Maybe to post some kind of bond but I've never had to do that. But other than a business situation I don't think it's any ones business.

I'd keep a depreciating asset like your vehicle out of it

My wife asked last night. I took your advise and now I’m in a lot of trouble.
