CPA here. This sounds like channel surfing. Clearly fraud. Is this company public? I'd get out ASAP and CYA

You know in your gut what you need to do. A toxic environment is terrible to work in. You seem to want validation to do what you already know you need to do. Go for it and don’t look back.

Agree with JDP, life is too short. Also, if you do not fit the corporate mold of the new management it is highly likely you will be the next one shucked. Much better to have walked.
Since you have sought and received help from the sages of the money board, how bout returning the favor and telling us if the train wreck is a publicly traded company?

ACS
ASC group, they are traded across the pond. They own a lot of big construction companies. I'm not going to disclose which one i am at but they have some big projects across the country. One was built in Louisiana about 10 years ago.

This is almost exactly what Bausch and Lomb got into deep shite for back in the early 90s.

Nope. Not legal in Europe. Not legal here. What you are describing is what we in the biz like to call "fraud."

what i meant by that is own nothing and rent everything. we are a multibillion dollar a year construction company and we don't own anything. No pickup trucks, cranes, bulldozers, office buildings. take it off or rent if it is not being used for a short period of time.
