CapitalOne Venture. It’s 2% back of all purchases regardless of category, but it will only pay the 2% as a reimbursement of travel expenses, which is the only way I redeem points. If you want a true cash back, it’s only 1%. There’s also a $99/yr fee. There’s probably slightly better deals out there, but I haven’t looked.

Do yourself a favor and get Citi DoubleCash. 2% cash back just like Venture without an annual fee.

I just made you $100. You're welcome.

I charge nearly everything I can on Citi Double cash. 1% reward at time of purchase and the other 1% at time of card payment.

Occasionally, I'll use Chase freedom unlimited. Its 1.5%.

Everything but my house note. Pay it off every month. I haven’t paid for a flight in 10 yrs. Works well for us.

That’s what my wife have been doing, United Mileage Plus. Just flew to Switzerland for $5.60 per ticket (had to pay the 9-11 fee). On Friday flying three of us back from Athens for under $200 combined.

When my family goes on vacation it costs me more for a dog sitter than our flights.

You should never use your debit card anymore these days other than to get cash out of an ATM. Too much risk in having someone hack your card.

Since college, I’ve never used a debit card. I use my credit cards for all reasonable and BUDGETED purchases and every bill possible. Knowing how many times that my credit cards have been compromised over the years, there’s no way that I would take the chance of my checking or savings getting emptied out, and me having to rely on the bank to investigate before they restored the funds.

As long as you’re disciplined (I haven’t paid a dime of interest on a card in decades), I just don’t see a reason not to use credit cards in this fashion... cash rewards and travel points aside (sorry Dave Ramsey, but those actually do add up to some “real money” over time).

TheWiz, what card gives you 2.5% cash back?

I'm guessing it's the USAA Visa. It's the only one I've seen higher than 2%. You have to have a USAA account, and maintain a direct deposit of at least $1000 in it every month.

Everything. Nets me just over $2k/yr in cash back. A nice raise, IMO for no extra work.

I put most bills on the CC. I think I don’t with water cause they charge a fee for CC payments. Everything else goes on there.

I love Mint, but they're ending the pill payment feature at the end of June. I'm pretty upset about it.

I do the same as most of you with the rewards however I think it is a little misleading as we are all paying higher prices for goods and services due to cc fees.

what expenses do y'all put on your credit card per month?

Almost every single purchase is done by CC. I had a gift card at a sandwich place someone gave me and when paying the bill I had .07 left to pay above teh card value. I broke out the CSR to swipe the .07 because .07x.03 = .21 pts

I found the bill payment to be such a pain. I wanted to have the option to turn it off. It is fine to track, but I have everything on auto payment so I didn't need any of those reminders.
