The LSURussian thread reminded me of MileHigh, JerseyTiger etc. I'm sure I'm missing others from that era. Where did they all go?

The crash last year followed by the easiest year of investing ever; coupled with crypto boom and the meme stock thing, flushed out alot of people. Old timers just cant handle this board anymore. I kinda get why it'd be insufferable I guess.

booomer investors couldnt shoehorn their mental models into the current world order.

rather than adapting to accommodate a changing technology landscape, they log off and cope. its also why threads spring up wanting to remove crypto from this board.

the future money talk chads will be able to adapt to the web3 money paradigm, and we will have more dropouts once that goes mainstream

I wouldn't say it was only crypto, I think it's just the easy money environment as a whole which includes alot of crypto. I say this as a crypto investor, not hating.

Go back to 2010-2019 and you'll see etf threads at the top of the page and such. It was the gold standard advice to newbies..now it's Shiba unu and gme and stuff like that. And people are actually rewarded for that crap if they having lucky timing.

If you came up investing in the 80s-2017ish. It's hard to transition to this, just follow the momentum world, who cares what the company or coin does or is or what their Financials look like.

This video is half the posters here now. It cracks me up. LINK

Things were much much much harder. They're still waiting for the reversion to the mean, but the fed is making sure that ain't gonna happen. So the ironic thing is crypto is booming because of that as well.
I feel old as fk when I read some of these threads and I'm mid thirties. I can only imagine what a 50ish person feels like.

They were probably investors and now this market is gambling.

the market is the market.

memetic plays are the market.

you can cope and pretend it's gambling or whatever but that's the market.

memes are bullish. crypto is bullsh. daos are bullsh. metaverse is bullsh..taking advice from Dave Ramsey on YouTube is not. taking advice from a drunken old geezer with penny stocks is not

the status quo has changed.. adjust or cope

I guess I'm in the cope camp. I like my simple monthly contributions to my ETFs and Mutual Funds.

Yea I just dont think that changes at this point. Until it does, hard, but that doesn't mean it's going back to the way it was before last few years. It will be something completely different, you gotta try to keep up. Your primary income is still infinitely more important than any of this, as long as you don't lose that, whatevs.

The crypto stuff has ebbed and flowed, but it was all of the shorts / GameStop-ish threads that completely took over the first page, that I think flushed a lot of them out.

Plus, at times, many good threads have become derailed to become OT-type threads, or worse, Poli Board type threads.
