USAA insurance
Anyone here use USAA? Just found out that I'm eligible. I've heard good things about them for auto insurance. Though seen mixed things on using them for house or umbrella insurance. Love some feedback. thanks

re: USAA insurance
We have our vehicles, homeowners, term life, and had a rental property policy with them. Pretty happy overall, and for us, I’m not sure the rates can be beat.

Have home owners and auto through them. Rates and customer service are fantastic.

We have auto insurance through them and had term life at one time, but found better rates for life insurance elsewhere. Did not have competitive home insurance rates when we shopped around a couple of years ago.

Have you needed to make a claim against your policy? I'm eligible too, but hesitant to make the switch bc I don't know about this?

Yes. In 2015 they were the highest of four quotes.

Yes, auto.

Service was unbelievable, only one call to USAA while on the scene and they coordinated everything from tow to repair to rental car. No work or sweat on our side.

We have them for auto and home ins. Their rates seem roughly competitive, but they can probably generally be beat. Their customer service is very good though from my experience.

I've never had to make a claim though.

They also usually pay out a small yearly dividend.

This has been my experience as well.

Had to claim during the flood, house and auto. Very fair, easy to deal with. House was 6" of water and truck started having issues a few weeks after fording deep water. No complaints.

This is why I am willing to pay more. And because when you do make a claim you won't be jacked around like some companies might do.

Insurance + bank with USAA

Been happy with them so far. Not the best rates but I trust them in a claim situation

re: USAA insurance
USAA quoted me for homeowners, and it was 50% higher than my Farm Bureau policy....but I am a USAA customer for car loans. I refi'd my mortgage through them, as well...but I wouldn't recommend it. (Rate was great, customer service not so much.)

I like USAA's very user friendly online portal--it is set up so that you can take care of most things online, including uploading your annual taxes and insurance documents (for home mortgage). So many mortgage servicers have terrible online options.

Unless you are a veteran, you're not going to get the military discount with them. Thus, your rate will be just as high or higher than your current company.

Now, are they a fantastic company? Absolutely. But you're going to pay for it, just like any other company, if you don't have their military discount. If you get that discount, then nobody will beat that rate.

I feel like I may not be getting that rate, do you know to ensure they have your DD214 on file? I don't see mine in my documents or know where to find it in my online profile

USAA might be the WORST when it comes to claims.

re: USAA insurance
it varies so much by region. For me, here in KC area, State farm was quite a bit cheaper than USAA for a package deal for the following:
- Home owners
- 2 cars
- Personal articles
- Umbrella

I don't remember all the specifics but I saved about $800/yr total by staying with state farm. The only one to come close to State Farm for me so far is Safeco. the way things have been trending I think Safeco will become cheaper for me by the end of this year and then I may have to finally switch.

re: USAA insurance
I've had USAA since I was old enough to drive 1st through my dad and now on my own. I guess about 22-23 years total now.
Have my cars and Homeowners, plus some financial things with them.

Never had an auto claim with them, but 2 homeowners claims. One for hail damage to a roof. They replaced entire roof, no fussing or hassle. Last year I had a tree fall on my house. They paid to repair everything. It was pretty easy. I used one of their preferred contractors and they took care of everything. Never even spoke to my adjustor once the claim was filed. Payments done electronically. All I did was pay my deductible.
