I jumped in then. I’ll hang on to it.

I didn't want to jinx it but today is the best single day I have ever had trading
Excluding some fluke penny trades

I will fully admit that I do not have the balls to trade weekly options like that.
I think I'd have to play with that in paper trading for a few weeks. The interesting thing is that the shorter the time to expiration, the cheaper the premium. I guess having a nose for where the bottom of the dip is would be a good thing. I've bought dips that didn't stop dipping!

That won’t continue but at least UVXY and VXX are cheap hedge plays to boost your confidence.

Congrats.
No such thing as a jinx. Just stay humble and trade on. When you win, figure out what you did to make it work. And when you lose, figure out what you did to make it not work.

My best day also. I can say that I have learned to temper my emotions (for the most part) during wild swings high and low. Being committed to long term holds helps with that. I still have a couple dogs that I hate but I think they will eventually come around....at least they are up today as well!

It's hard not to take some profits from PINS today, but I'm holding steady.

It's just a function of the things that contribute to option pricing. The first thing to do, if you're seriously curious about trading options, is learn the Greeks and how they contribute to pricing.
As far as the time factor, that's Theta. In other words, the less time to expiration, the smaller the probability that the stock will touch or breach the strike... so all else equal, an option (put or call) becomes cheaper as time passes.

I like trading options because of the leverage it gives you, but they are definitely risky for sure. I like to buy a month or so out and try to cash out quicker once in the profits. For longer options of 6 months or a year I kinda like to let them ride a bit longer on the dips, since in theory there is more time to recover.
If you are real risky you can do options for the leveraged etfs, like SPXL, TQQQ,SQQQ, TECL or the likes. I think some 2 year options for TQQQ, SPXL and TECL can be very profitable, but I haven't tested out that theory yet. My only worry is that the volume isn't there for those real long dated options so not sure how easy or hard it will be to sell at a later date. One would also assume the more it is in the money, the easier it will be to sell too, but again haven't tested this out.

Same here. Up 8% on the day, 15% for the week. Scared it's a house of cards but it sure is fun while it last.

Got a couple FSLY calls for 1/15 that I’m hoping to squeeze a little more out of and then I’ll sell them and grab some PINS.
