This is unreal. I'm no student of the stock market and just have a marginal amount of expendable cash that I've played with for the past couple of years (my IRA and 401k are managed through a firm) so a lot of this is over my head.

But is there any sort of precedent for this? Like, ever? This is so unreal...There's no way these people are allowed to get away with this, right? It is just so blatantly corrupt that I cannot see there being no massive ramifications for these folks. Right? Or am I just being way too naive?

As I typed my last post they were down to $9, now they're just over $10. Watching it is like watching a stock on a cartoon.

So, they only halt it when it swings up, and not down, like it did at the outset today?

He's right. If they had halted all action, they'd probably be fine. But only allowing closing of positions definitely opens them up to a manipulation class-action suit.

In a fair world SEC would be on the phone and threatening them with closure. I'm not sure they can do this for any prolonged length of time.

I don't like what wsb, et al are doing in all of this. But they have every right to enact a short squeeze. Freedom to frick with the hedge funds is fundamental....I am serious

No question about it, brokers restricting trading on the stocks is deliberate "Market Manipulation".

It's not market manipulation if you're doing it for the right reasons.

And by right reasons I mean protecting certain individual's portfolios.

They didn't do anything but post about a stock with high short interest.

I mean no offense. But if you truly believe that brokerages care anything about you or your portfolio, I have some Kansas ocean front property I’ll sell you.

I’ve been trading and investing for roughly four decades. And from those years of experience, good and bad, I can assure you that banks and brokerages primarily care about their own interests - not yours. The very best person to protect my interests is me.

By preventing me from opening certain option positions yesterday they’ve cost me a lot of money today. I don’t need a nanny. If others do, then they have no business trading. And that should have been determined when they filled out their trading authorization forms, not after the fact.

And if hedge funds get themselves into a situation where they can go bankrupt based on naked exposure to a single small cap stock. They should get what they deserve.
