How are there Kmarts that are still open? I know there was bankruptcy stuff going on years ago, but there is still one open where my parents live. Maybe 4 or 5 cars in the parking lot max.

"worst possible service" is what you're looking for.

Cox
Comcast
United Airlines

One could make a strong case for any of the cable companies, and major airlines. I haven't dealt with Comcast in nearly 20 years, but dealt with Charter 12 years ago when we bought our house. They missed 3 appointments to establish service, and didn't seem to care I had taken off work to meet them. They showed up the 4th and 5th time, but I made sure we weren't home. I went with Direct instead.

Comcast is much worse than Cox
I've had both over the years, and it's hard to say that one company has worse customer service than the other. They are both so, so horrible.
However, Cox is generally more expensive than Comcast, so I guess that makes Cox the "worst".

Almost all doctors offices: AMAZING how inefficient and inconsiderate they are, thought dentists are the complete opposite in my experience.
I wonder if the fact that dental insurance is so much different (and so less used) than medical insurance is a reason behind this?

Popeyes: It's amazing that they can have such universally poor service and pretty good chicken. The bad service is so consistent I have to wonder whether it's actually corporate policy.
When we lived in Katy, we were amazed at how much better the fast food places were run, and how nicer and better the employees were, than the New Orleans version of those same fast food places.
The one exception was Popeyes. There were three locations I would visit, and the customer service and speed were just awful. The employees were awful. They NEVER had spicy chicken ready.

I think it's just the nature of denistry. There is very rarely a medical emergency they have to deal with, so it's easier for them to stay on schedule.
I have a family member that is a family doctor with his own practice. I was briefly unemployed 6 or 7 years ago and he had me come in and do some odd jobs around his office a few days. To see a doctor's office from that side of things is eye opening. He also did rounds every morning at the local hospital, so it seemed he starts the day already behind schedule and trying to play catch up. Then you can never accurately estimate how long each appointment will take. Add in emergencies and pharmaceutical reps that pop in unannounced, and it's easy to see how doctor's offices are always behind schedule.

I sometimes wonder how Picadilly is still alive.

If your dr's office is disorganized, find another doctor.
But AT&T has to be the WORST. Called to schedule service connection at my newly built house: AT&T disconnected my old number before determining that my new 'hood didn't have cable run to each lot. It took 31 working days to get the cable run, then another 2 weeks to get the service connected. During this period, I was burning through cell minutes trying to deal w/AT&T's centrally organized customer service department....many disconnects, many useless CSRs who would insist "I've elevated your request". Only after I threatened to cancel ALL of my AT&T services (cell, internet, home phone) did they finally offer to credit me 100 cell minutes. What a joke---I'd used 120 minutes that day alone dealing w/AT&T.
45 days without a phone. At the end of it, I really wondered whether I needed service at all. Ditched At&t cell, now w/Verizon. Thinking of switching to Cox for internet.
AT&T FTW.

It almost has to be a utility, because they have literally zero incentive to care what customers think.

You'd think, but I've never had anything but great service from power, water, and gas companies.

Piccadilly
Bossier shut down Piccadilly years ago. I was very upset. In my late 50s I'd go there for lunch just for the self esteem of being the youngest customer in the place.

U-Haul
I rented a truck for a move recently from one city to another and U-Haul was pretty damn simple and easy.
Show up, pick up the truck, drop it off 3 days later in the new city.
The offices were all pretty run down, but the trucks were pristine/nice, and the employees were all relatively easy to deal with.
