I'm still pending on Coinbase after purchasing on 4/30. This is nuts. A helpless feeling watching this thing bounce all around with no ability to trade it.

Have you contacted Coinbase?
Cryptocurrency is an exercise in volatility and there seem to be lots of knee jerks going on worldwide. I have 54 units of ETH at about 89 average, and my plan remains the same. If it drops below $75 or somewhere thereabouts, I'll reevaluate. Otherwise, I'm relaxed and holding until it gets back up.

Nah, haven't contacted them yet. I figure I will give it another day or so. My strategy is much like yours in that I am long, so it's not a huge deal. That said, I like being in control of my own money and to have a transaction pending for over a week is new to me.

Question, how will cryptocurrency ever take hold if its just a speculative vehicle for investors? Does it just have to reach this critical mass to obtain stability?

Honestly, I am wondering the same. I personally can't see how anyone can depend on it as an actual currency when the value fluctuates constantly.
As I've mentioned before, I am using it strictly as a high risk/high reward investment for now. Just something else to spread my risk.
That said, I don't really understand the ins and outs of Crypto just yet, so I am easing into it.

How do I transfer from Coinbase to Poloniex?

I would hold off on buying more until the correction settles out. Several guys who are thought leaders on cryptocurrency are warning that we are on the other side of the ETH parabolic volatility

Mother fricker. I should've dropped 10K into this whenever it was hovering around $80

Figured it out...you're day trading this stuff? Seems like lots can be made with a little bit of patience. Maybe swing trades.
Can you withdraw from Poloniex to your bank? or must it go back to Coinbase first?

ya day/ swing trades
i havent withdrew anything yet, but i believe the currency has to go to your wallet/coinbase
id be extra cautious at this point, poloniex has had several lag issues and server malfunctions. they can not handle the volume of users exchanging

Here's a good article on blockchain and energy trading in the future. If you're wondering where it's all heading.
LINK
quote:
-Currently the EU is undoubtedly the most active region globally, not just in terms of blockchain in energy but also in terms of the broader core developer network. Indeed, we are seeing in Germany for example more than half of energy executives either carrying out or planning blockchain pilots.
-Presently, there are approximately 40 startups operating globally in the energy blockchain space (see taxonomy later in this piece). These startups are working with the underlying technology of bitcoin and particularly on the Ethereum platform.
-The technology still needs time to mature and the core developer network estimates that this may be 2-5 years away, however the emergence of initiatives such as the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance and the Energy Web Foundation will speed up standards and help to create both interoperability and shared design between public & private chains.
-Although blockchain may provide an opportunity to transform some existing utility processes, the major opportunities in the near term will focus on the changes in the energy industry, and in particular the interplay between distributed energy resources and utility analytics..

Not to anyone specifically, but in general there might be some opportunity as VIX showed some life and stock futures are trending down. Comey announcement. PM's are also up marginally. Not sure if this will last until open tomorrow, but I took a quick look around some dark pools, and some big names are down 2-3%. Which means nothing becuase some back might just be rebalancing. Dark pools are hard to read at 7:40 EST as very little is moving, and it is reported slowly.
I'm not sure when or how ethereum trades, but I'm guessing it's up right now due to the above.

FYI from Coinbase:

Due to extremely high purchase and deposit volume, we have been experiencing a delay of several days with ACH deposits and buy orders. As a result, our estimated clearing date for your recent buy order or deposit was not accurate
