1. Do not have another meeting with them without your lawyer present.

2. If they even HINT at this claim, make sure you consider that a slanderous statement as there is absolutely no evidence to make that claim.

3. Do NOT, and let me repeat this, DO NOT post the pics. At all. I know you're pissed but that action won't "show them", it will serve only to frick you over. It's absolutely irrelevant if randos here believe you or not. You're not here for fricking approval, you're here for solid advice and that advice is "you're so close, don't throw it all away by letting your emotions override your common sense".

Keep us updated.

They then asked me to allow them to have a second party company perform a Forensic Analysis of my phone, as they are doing the same to his.

You made the right call absolutely do not let them have the phone, they could plant anything on it.

Good luck

Enjoying following along no need for proof

Curious what your lawyer says

Also how could they subpoena his personal phone?

They haven't really not made your workplace any less hostile

OP, keep in mind that half the people on here are miserable pricks who love to say you are lying. Do not post any pics of email here in case you go to litigation. It will feel good but not a smart move.

I also would bet everyone in management at your plant is worried about their employment given the recent history of multiple issues. That could explain the tension. Never hurts to put out some feelers on other jobs though. Could be an opportunity to think about what you want to do for the next 10 years. Doesn’t sound like your current job makes you very happy. I had something like this happened to me in 2014 where a tenured professor started threatening me with litigation and my university did very little. Led to some decisions in my life about expanding my consulting business that were very positive.

So far you’ve done everything appropriately.

1. Don’t post screenshots on the internet. At least not until the settlement hits your account. Assuming everything you’ve written here is true, your case is a slam dunk.

2. Not giving them your phone was the right move. They’ve subpoenaed the records from Verizon. That’ll confirm authenticity.

3. Can’t stress this enough. Your conversations on the matter need to be written or recorded. HR is not keen to put things in writing. Can’t blame them. It doesn’t help the company to have a paper trail of this issue. I’d even go as far as to have your lawyer present for these conversations or to have him draft your responses after they ask things if you.

4. Your time there is done. Start looking. You’re not responsible here, but it will follow you everywhere in this company. It’s not right but it’s the truth.

It's actually his company issued cell phone. It belongs to the company, but Verizon requires a subpoena to give out an entire text thread in writing.

As of the end of business today, no updates. We were down for the holiday yesterday, and I heard nothing at all today.

Your time there is done. Start looking.

I've come to realize this over the past week or so. But, it's just not that easy, emotionally. The job market is a workers market, so finding work isn't a worry. As cliché as this sounds, I have a real relationship with the people that work for me in my department. I really do care about them, and leaving them behind really does make me feel like I'm turning my back on them. I didn't just fall into management, I worked my arse off to get here. I started off, ten years ago at a competing global manufacture, at the lowest pay grade production worker the company had. Over 9 years, I worked my arse of to rise through the ranks, finishing my Bachelors while working 12 hour swing shifts the whole time. that experience gave me the best foundation for how to treat people. I always base decisions and choices on the way I wanted to be treated and talked to by management when I was in that position. I have fought for these folks, tooth and nail to get them what they deserve. It wasn't much, but back in March, they implemented a facility wide production raise for all hourly employees. I understand my departure is now inevitable, but it's truly hard to accept that after you've developed such close relationships with your people.

You sound like a good dude.
Don't let these guys eat your lunch; eat theirs.
Play your cards right and get a large payday from these frickers.
You now understand that you are done there; also understand that you will be an asset to your next employer.
And continue to keep us posted, thanks.

Wow! That guy was a special brand of stupid.

I saw where you wrote that you have an emotional attachment to the people you work with. I had that same feeling as I was considering a move years ago. What I did was stay in touch with them after I was gone. I don’t know your family situation, but you consider your obligation to your loved ones (and your own mental health) before worrying about people you work with. If their futures depend on you (what if you got hit by a truck tomorrow?), they’re already in a bad situation.

IMO, start prepping and leave with honor and your head held high.
