Who did you switch from? Nathan Heller?

Greetings All! I just wrapped up MADM 701 with Professor Williams. I did fairly well in there, however, I feel I definitely put an inordinate amount of time into the course. I was hoping some of the veterans in here could compare workload (time spent each week) and difficulty between Williams' MADM 701 and MADM 760 with Dr. Meeks. I will also have ISDS 705 with Lin for AP2. Thank you in advance to anyone that is able to reply!

MADM 760 is a lot of group work and writing. On average spent about 10 hours per week on both individual and team assignments. Can’t speak bad about the team assignments but I was fortunate to have strong team members. As for the individual assignments...write write write. Meeks will even say the same.

In SE TX they do. To my chagrin, its apparently considered the Devry of the bayou.
Wow, I don't get why that perception would exist.... I actually provided a reference to the AACSB board for the school when they were going through the accreditation renewal process. Looked to be very rigorous and AACSB only certifies 5% of business schools in the world. The accreditation is one of the main reasons I picked the school.

Meeks. yeah yeah, I know most here will say I'm missing out on the Meeks experience but at 14mo in and a 4.0, I don't want/need the drama of going through group assignments (I had them for 2 other classes and the experience was not a good one).

Me too, and the cost and the accelerated timeline but in the end LSUS carries a negative stigma in these parts.

Anyone know the title of the text for ISDS 705 with Gibbs?

Are those mclaughlin tests proctored?

Yes, they are proctored through Proctorio.

I agree with you. The cost is the main factor giving it any negative stigma in my opinion. There's a perception we as humans have that if something costs more then it's automatically superior to something similar that costs less. In some cases it's true, but in many others it's not.
Here's the reality - LSUS has the AACSB accreditation, which has been mentioned only 5% of universities with business programs hold this accreditation. That accreditation is a much more reliable measure of a quality education than the fact that the program is so much cheaper than the average MBA tuition, which I believe is between $40,000 and $50,000.
LSUS figured out a way to offer a low cost and shorter than average timeframe to graduation while still meeting the very high standard of the AACSB accreditation. I respect them for that.
And you know that most of the remainng 95% of business schools without the AACSB accreditation charge much more than LSUS's current cost of $12,500. Ponder that one for awhile.

@TigerChick, how do we sign up for the ring ceremony?

pineveillj Please also inform me once you receive the syllabus, I may switch class, Meeks have horrible ratings on ratemyprofessor and I don't want to do a group assignment right now.

If you can’t make an A in Meeks class, you should drop out of the program.

If anyone is taking ISDS 710 (Data analytics) with Darrat this session, the page is up and it seems like the class may have been restructured. Previously on the forum, I've read that the course was more marketing based and used the text book "Data-Driven Marketing: The 15 Metrics Everyone in Marketing Should Know". Now it is centered around the programming language R and the textbook is "An Introduction to Statistical and Data Sciences via R".
Has anyone taken this class recently? Is this the normal structure and is the class difficult?

I also noticed some differences, as there were previously complaints about the final throwing curveballs, but the class no longer has a final. I don't particularly like walking in "blind" as it were, but I guess I don't have much choice now. I believe we may end up being the guinea pigs for this new format. I just hope it's not too bad.

Looks like the combination of ISDS 710 and MADM 760 (Meeks) is going to be somewhat challenging from a workload standpoint.
Fortunately, this is my last term! It will feel very good to get over the finish line.
After this term, I plan on writing an extensive review of my experience and courses.
