Hi TD
There were 14 BGS inductees. I was also inducted, but Darrat forgot to add me to the program. Fortunately, I contacted BGS directly prior to the ceremony and obtained my regalia and my induction certificate.
I flew in from Sacramento, CA and thought that it was definitely worth the trip. People really need to stop hating on this program. It doesn't do anyone any good.

Are there and IT folks out there that are implementing data governance frameworks, or that work in environments employing frameworks and automated tools? I will need to implement a framework at a county hospital soon and I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Thanks for the info TigerChick

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Life has been in the way.
To sign up for the ring ceremony go to LINK
You need to call them. You have to order your ring. I do not know what the deadline is, but the ceremony is November 4.

@TigerChick, how do we sign up for the ring ceremony?
@Marek76, Thanks for suggesting that I contact Dr. Darrat. Dr. Darrat just responded to my email. From his response, I am going to infer that they don't usually invite students that graduate during the Summer because the induction ceremonies only occur at the end of the Spring and Fall terms. He is going to issue an invite to me since I asked.
I guess the take home from my experience is to ask for an invite if you graduate in a term other than Spring or Fall, otherwise you may be overlooked.

@Marek76 Thanks for the suggestion I will contact Dr. Darrat.
I graduated with a 4.0 at the end of the 1st summer session and I did not get an invite to BGS.
I am the OP. I have only seen the 36 hour requirement a few times while applying for positions recently. (I submit 1-4 applications a day, so everything is a blur right now.) I think that the hiring oganizations use the 36 credit characteristic in an attempt to distinguish between thesis and non-thesis MBA programs, but this is just a shot in the dark. Most don't care.

I was referring to a couple of pages back where a potential employer during an interview seemed to imply a 30 credit MBA was valued less.
I remember being really surprised about that as well. I've been involved in hiring for my various organizations for over 15 years and I have never asked that question. No one I know asks that question. Perhaps it's a regional thing, or perhaps HR has always asked it, maybe it's industry specific. It personally wouldn't factor into my decision though.

I have had both professors and I liked both of them.
I guess they might not be of much value if you cannot or choose not to be involved in the organizations after you accept an invite, or if you never plan to get another degree. (I am looking at DBA programs and they all ask about honor society membership.)
I view them as a way to build my professional network. Most jobs come from people that you know, so it can't hurt to become a member as long as you use the membership to build your network.
BTW, great job on the 4.0! I sounds like you really worked hard for it!

The last time that Phi Kappa Phi admitted new members at Shreveport was in Spring of 2017, or at least that was the last time Shreveport used Kappa's website to induct students. Kappa is going to induct in the 2018/2019 school year according to a school email that I received.
I could totally be wrong about BGS and SIE not inducting during the Summer. The sparse documentation on Shreveport's Honor Society website says that they only induct during the Fall and Spring. Maybe someone else has better information than I do.

Having to wait until the Fall to get into Beta Gamma Sigma, and Sigma Iota Epsillon really sucks--not to mention that Kappa didn't accept anyone this year. I am really hoping that Kappa accepts summer grads in the Fall, but who knows what they have planned.

Did I miss a conversation somewhere? What's up with the honor societies?
BGS and SIE are the two I expected to hear from. They're not doing anything with the summer grads?
I know nothing about Kappa, it's not listed for grad students on the Moodle honor society page, but if it is accepting MBA students, I believe there were multiple 4.0 gpa grads this summer, so I'm somewhat surprised they didn't take anyone.
I am applying for CIO, IT Director, and IT Manager jobs at hospitals and hospital systems of various sizes all across the country. The level that I apply for depends upon the size of the organization.
The honor society membership question seems to be baked into some organization's EHR software and does not appear directly related to a specific position. The academic awards question seems to appear more frequently when I apply at smaller hospitals or at university hospitals, but not always.

@baroqen--All good points. I will ask for the certificate.
I am trying to find a new job right now and some employers (~20%) want transcipts. None have asked for proof of a diploma. The lack of the finance specialization on my transcript is disappointing. Somewhere between 50-75% of the places that I have applied to want to know if I belong to honor societies, and if I received academic awards. The environment that I am completing in is very tough. Some jobs that I have applied for have over 1000 applicants, so I am looking for anything that will set me apart, get me an interview, and a new job.

even though it appears on the transcript, they informed me that it does NOT appear on the official diploma which will only show "Masters of Business Administration". Aside from applying for school, I know of no other use for the transcript. It's not as if you would ever hand your transcript over to a potential employer unless you're possibly trying to show them proof of a 4.0. Also, if you need "proof" of your specialization or concentration, you can request a certificate of completion or letter from the MBA dept. after degree conferral, which will show spec/conc.
I did a two class specialization in finance. I didn't want to be idle for two sessions so I could take my last fin class to get the concentration. If I had known that the University was going to display the concentration on the transcript, but not the specialization, I would have waited.

You have to watch for it to appear on your account. Congrats on being close to the end.
@mtntreks, did they list your GPA on the line after the graduation date? They listed mine and I am wondering if it has any significance with respect to the other verbiage or if it is just a data point.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Degrees are posting on transcripts
For those of you considering taking the foundation 500 classes, make sure that they are graduate-level classes; if they aren't they won't show up on you degree as degree credit hours.
The credit hours may not be an issue for most people, but I thought that I would mention it since some of the jobs that I have applied for over the last few weeks have specifically stipulated MBA with 36 credit hours.

@mtnktreks-- congrats!
Just got mine--it did not list my specialty :-(

You can drop two classes for W's before you get in trouble.
I don't think Heller has taught MADM 701 yet, so you many not get much feedback.
