The Obama administration announced new regulations today that impose restrictions on fracking in certain areas of the country. The rules require companies to disclose the chemicals they use when drilling for gas or oil, and properly dispose of waste materials, The Washington Post reports.

This for the Middle East & OPEC. Wrapped up with a bow. Talk about hitting US O&G when they are down. The government owned Saudi Arabia O&G company has been recruiting the U.S. real hard with the down turn. The second Obama signs his deal with Iran an additional 1-2 millions barrels of oil go on the market. Game over for US O&G.

I get fearing what is pumped in the ground, but this is going to destroy the idea of proprietary information. Its like printing the recipe for food on menus at a restaurant. Outside of the acids (which its easy to find what the acids are), I've held the other fluids in my bare hands. It's just gelling agents. This is going to be a big flop of info.

Fair enough.
Their business requires imposing part of its operating costs on society, so society has a right to know and to regulate it.
