On the environmental side it makes sense other than that it's retarded

but this is going to destroy the idea of proprietary information. Its like printing the recipe for food on menus at a restaurant.

It will uncover no more than corporate espionage does, and if there are unique mixtures, I'm sure they're patented.

it is usually a proprietary mix of chemicals. So it is a trade secret they want to hide from their competitors

Tough shite.

the mixture has more profitability than Canes Sauce and you don't see that dog giving up any secrets.

The timing could be better. Oil companies don't need any extra expenses right now.

So let me get this clear so I understand you dumbasses.

The fracking folks don't want to let everyone know that they are putting this horrible shite in the ground that can cause drinking water to light on fire and cause earthquakes.
Because lord knows that the EPA and probably any one of 10 government agencies wouldn't be all over their shite if they really were putting bad stuff into the ground.

Bingo. Anytime a customer buys a new hazardous chemical from me we email an msds/SDS to them. New regulations now call them SDS'. Will be changed to that in about a year.

It isn't about what is in the mixture. Everyone knows. It is about cherry picking a few ingredients and harping on them when it becomes public record.

Drive a Prius and ask for an MSDS on all the nasty shite that goes into making one. It is a carcinogen on wheels.

Sounds like Monday night quarterbacking. Why wouldn't the chemicals involved with fracking on federal land be disclosed up front as part of the lease agreement? Obama just throwing a bone to environmentalists and grabbing at more low hanging fruit as his lame duck administration wanes.

It's as if "the mixture" is the sole variable in the fracking profitability equation.

I'm sorry, but public safety > one variable in the profitability of oil produced from US shale.

Do you feel them making this public will make fracking safer or change their m.o.?

Seriously, them having to make their mixtures public is a shitty thing. The ingredients are known if you had half a brain to look.

Then why is this a problem?
