Here is some potential good news (in the long term) for our baby. The BMW plant here is only 737 miles from Smackover.
BMW Group Announces $1.7 Billion (USD) Investment to Build Electric Vehicles in the U.S. and Signs Agreement with Envision AESC for the Supply of Battery Cells to Plant Spartanburg.
-Envision AESC to Build New Battery Cell Plant in South Carolina to Supply Plant Spartanburg with Newly Developed Round Lithium-Ion Cells for BMW’s Next Generation Electric Vehicles.
-$1 Billion New Investment in Plant Spartanburg to Prepare for the Production of Battery Electric Vehicles in the U.S.
-At Least Six Fully-Electric BMW Models to be Built in the U.S. by 2030.
-Additional $700 Million Investment to Build a New High-Voltage Battery Assembly Facility in Woodruff, South Carolina Expands BMW Group Manufacturing Footprint in the State.

And Lilac got $50 million

He implied very heavily to me that they did. Didn’t say it as a matter of fact, but asked if I saw the DOE grant program and said they were making a trip to DC soon that should make investors happy.
Albemarle just announced $150 million. We’re running out of money.
I seriously cannot fathom that SLI couldn’t get a grant with Koch support.

I wonder if SLI qualified. As in, are they far enough along in the process, design, to qualify. If memory serves me right, SLI has not and will not approve the final funding for the project until Q1 2023.

SLI were supposed to be 12-18 months ahead of Lilac. Who were able to receive funding

My only hypothesis is that priority is being given to US companies. SLI is Canadian. So maybe they’re not in on the first round of awards but could be in the next round.
Wild guess.

I believe there is a clause that only US companies can get the funding.

Albemarle Corp. has been awarded a nearly $150 million grant from the U.S. Energy Department to build a lithium-concentrator facility in North Carolina.
The specialty chemicals maker said Wednesday that the grant is part of a series of projects funded by the White House's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that aims to expand domestic manufacturing of electric vehicle batteries.
The new commercial-scale lithium facility would be constructed at Albemarle's location in Kings Mountain, a small city located about 30 miles west of the company's headquarters in Charlotte, N.C.

It says that US companies have priority but, the way I read it, does not eliminate non-US companies from consideration.

That is my understanding as well, but I don't know if that means only companies that are headquartered in the US or if companies that have production in the US can also qualify. If they've applied, I assume that it is the latter, hopefully.

Agree. Why waste time, effort, money to apply if you aren't qualified based on the requirements.

Biden gives $2.8 billion to battery companies that commit to ESG agenda

That certainly sounds like it’s a done deal and SLI did not get funding. Awesome. Another failure.

On top of our tax dollars going to ESG BS.

I'm not trying to be a downer becuase I started this thread and I have a lot to thank SLI for some nice gains.
Having said that, some of yall may want to consider investing in Tetra instead. Its a much easier way to sleep at night knowing they have a cash flowing business: calcium chloride, bromine, o&g services.
And if this technology hits.. oh yeah they own more leases that they didnt sell to SLI, so you can absolutely participate in the lithium production.
Effectivly:
1) I am not hitching myself to the Mintak
2) If DLE works, they own additional acreage in the Smackover

Down to $3.60 at the close.

I haven't been able to find the list of 20 companies who received the funding. I know Albermarle and Piedmont both received some of the funds.
Government funding comes with strings attached. See the Reuters article on Oct 5th regarding Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway Salton Sea project. They couldn't iron out issues surrounding who would own the patent, the technology and rights to sell at a future date. Berkshire requested a material change to their already approved grant to ensure they would retain control and the US Government pulled out.
We may be better off without the US Government involvement in our project. It sure is hard waiting on the answer though.

This. I want nothing to do with the ESG agenda.

I scrolled down the SLI Facebook page last night. It’s nothing but “meet the team” and El Dorado festival posts. Meanwhile, pissant Argosy Minerals gives solid monthly updates on all progress of their commissioning plant. I’m tempted to start trolling the SLI Facebook page
