I've done very little research on this and basically need a card to cover travel expenses for a work trip in a month that will be reimbursed.
What is a good no frills card? As far as rewards, I am less concerned about earning miles/travel reimbursements than maybe cashback or low APR etc.

It sounds like you're interested in simplicity and no fee. The Citi Double cash is probably a good fit for you.

Wait for the big offer on the Platinum. It goes as high as 100k points.
I have a PO Box that gets the 100k offer all the time for some painting business that had it before me. Taunting me.
However, they also get mail from the IRS so I'm not too jealous.

I think we have about 15 or so cards currently.
Holy hell...
Well I don't feel bad having four and possibly up to six

I feel bad that I keep getting it and throwing it away while you're sitting here pining over it

Shouldn't feel bad. Having a few more should actually help your score.

Not sure I'd actually apply, I just want to feel wanted, ya know?
My SPG spend should start going up once we cancel my wife's and I've moved spend to it. Maybe that will lure them in.

You're still the prettiest girl in the bar, Teddy.

Citi still loves me. Got the premier last night as that one worries me more for a bonus reduction in the near term.

So I didn't know this....I just tried to book a domestic AA business/first only to find out that all flights are considered first class when trying to redeem Avios for a 2 cabin flight.
E.g. MSY-ORD would be 7,500 in coach but business/first would be 30k. That's a silly variance. Business should only be 15k.
I'm not finding any kind of work around for it either.

Oh and I almost went to Norway this morning. Found a $490 RT business class on Oneworld flights on orbitz about 6 AM. Flight had to originate in Oslo. As I was trying to figure out when I was going to book the return leg, they fixed the price. I'm glad they did. I have a problem. I didn't need to go to Norway
.

frick you, for $490 in business class, I always need to go to Norway

That's what I was thinking. Since it had to originate in Norway it was going to require two trips to Norway. I was too busy worrying about making a trip out of both. I should've planned a trip around one and just done a long weekend for the other.

Anyone know if this is legit?
I perusing for the Amex 100k offer on the platinum and a few websites are saying it was valid as of mid July. One that talks about it had the above info as how to get "Special Offers".
quote:
Frequently American Express gives better offers to Creditcards.com than they give to anyone else. That’s because the CreditCards.com CardMatch Tool lets them evaluate you based on actual information — name, address, and validating your social security number.
They do not do a hard pull of your credit, using the Cardmatch tool doesn’t affect your credit score. It just lets them identify whether or not to offer you a bigger bonus for American Express cards. They’re looking at your information to see if you’re eligible is all. (They have other cards as well, but it’s Amex that seems to give bigger offers through this website.)

I was eligible for the 50 PRG offer through the Amex site, but not on CreditCards.com.
Your mileage may vary I suppose.

You have to think this will happen in the next year or two. I'm kind of banking on it. Of course doing premier and prestige and using 100k at 1.6 isn't terrible if required.
All the above X2 with a wife will cover a great deal of flights

I got the Amex Platinum 100K offer in the mail. With a $450 annual fee, how is this a good deal?
Posted on 8/8/15 at 11:56 pm to htownjeep
The increase in fee from gold to platinum wasn't worth it to me. I can easily earn the 175.00 fee in reward points within 12 months. When I got the gold a few years ago it came with an introductory 50,000 pts as well. The 450.00 fee was a little steep and I would probably struggle to break even with reward points as I usually hover between 2500.00 to 3000.00 in expenses every month.
If you have already committed to the platinum I would see no reason to keep the gold. Closing out a card with no pre-set limit will not negatively affect your credit.

You can get TSA per check or Global Entry plus $200 in reimbursed airline fees a year to offset the fee. You also get club access including Centurion a Club. There's a brand new Centurion Club in Miami.
