I am going to be taking over as a treasurer and need to learn QuickBooks. What is the best way to learn? In person training? Online?
FWIW, New Orleans/Northsore area.

you can probably find a lot of stuff on youtube. id read about setting up the chart of accounts. the rest is not that difficult but you need to start off with the right.

Any recommendations?

Youtube is the answer to just about any how to you can think of. My current immersion training is Tradingview.

I started a business this year and didn't set up my quickbooks right away. Paying my CPA $400 to go in and fix it, set everything up, and then teach me how to do it from here. Paying for convenience

QBO offers free training - or at least they did a few years ago. You have to sign up first, and there is a task wizard that will walk you through the courses.

Is this for an HOA? If so you should pay for someone to do it.

I became treasurer of a volunteer organization last year and we use QB - the previous treasurer had bought it. It was not difficult to learn but we probably only use about 20% of what it’s capable of doing.

Are learning bookkeeping and QuickBooks or just QuickBooks?

Current guy uses desktop. Is there a difference between the two?

Sounds like enterprise (desktop) version which requires a lot of manual input. Online is nearly automated.
Start QB account. Link to bank account and it automatically pulls the data every day or whenever you refresh it. It then scans the data lines to make an estimated guess on where it should be booked to. Or you can click the line and create a rule so it automatically gets booked whenever the expense comes across. We did a weekly review the first two, three months to make sure everything was coming across and properly accounted for. After that it becomes a simple report management.

You can do the same with desktop version.
QBO bank feeds are great when used properly but I’ve seen clients make a mess out of it. Junk in, junk out.
QB in general sells itself as being simple and that anyone can use it but getting some training if you don’t have accounting experience would be my suggestion, no matter the software.

UT bot indicators. 3 minute chart with Heiken candles. You can scalp spy options or ES futures all day.

Functionally, no. They have a different look and obviously one is hosted on the internets and the other on your computer (although there are remote hosting options as well).
But functionally they are pretty similar.

I would see if you can find a bookkeeper (prob don't need to pay a CPA for this) and pay them $250 consulting fee to look at your chart of accounts and make sure it makes sense. You are going to want the simplest chart of accounts you can get away with that still allows you to be able to accurately record everything and be able to produce organizational financials that make sense and are useful.

I don't recommend linking bank feeds until you understand QB well enough to know where to find things if they get misclassified. I find QB desktop to be easier than QB online and I'm using the enterprise version for work.
I was a treasurer for a couple years for a non profit, using QBO and it was pretty easy to figure out. If you already understand the difference between payables and receivables, and income vs expenses, you should be able to Google the process for entries. Setting up the chart of accounts correctly is important, and you can add levels of detail/sub-accounts as needed.

The best thing about QB is that it is easily the most used accounting platform in the United States. That means that any issue can be Googled and you will find a resolution. I was in tech support for a company that tied into QB. Google saved me many times.
