I only own two: Mcdonalds and Darden(Olive garden) . Dumped DPZ( domino's ) last week. With the cost of labor, materials and supplies in general is it worth even looking at any other Restaurant stocks? Will continue to hold Mcdonald's/Darden for the Div but wanted to see if anyone else owned any other restaurant stocks? or planned on buying any?

I haven't researched much of the industry, but i did see Chipotle received an upgrade rating today by an analyst. It's crazy to me that this stock had a 50:1 split at one point.

Pulling from memory on headlines I've seen -- Chipotle, CAVA, and Dominos (you said you sold this however) are stocks I've read good things about.

-----------

ETA

HAHA holy shite...mins after i posted, Barron's posted an article:

quote:

CAVA

+2.67%

Group, the Mediterranean-themed fast casual restaurant chain, missed expectations for second-quarter revenue and cut its full-year outlook for same-store sales growth, sending its stock plunging 22% in after-hours trading.

Thus proving I have not stayed up to date on food chain stocks

It’s a tough business to enter.

It’s a tough business to grow.

It’s a tough business.

Who are their suppliers?
There may some businesses with higher margins in supply/support of restaurants.

I’ve been looking into CAVA all afternoon. I’m a fan of the restaurant and missed the IPO run up.

They have 400 stores today. I fully believe them on 1,000 by 2030.

Positive free cash flow and very much in growth mode. No real debt on the books.

they need to team up with the weight loss drug makers . The reason I don’t eat fast food is not because I don’t like fast food, I absolutely love Taco Bell, at my age it takes me 26 days of fasting to drop the weight from one meal at Taco Bell . I’d eat it more if I could .

Margins are down, it's expensive as hell to eat out and people are choosing to stay home, and in my case, private equity fricked shite up

Wingstop is still going strong.

Shake shack took a bit of a hit recently , could be a buy opportunity.

I just don’t see the upside for Chipotle

They’ve run off customers with their $20 bowls and burritos and skimped on portions, and now are saying they are losing money on food prices.

How do you get them back at those prices?

Why are there not any "fast food" healthy meal places? Wrong customer base for the fast concept? Personally, I'd frequent any place I could get non fried chicken and an assortment of vegetables in a reasonable amount of time. I suppose the amount of time to steam or boil a vegetable and get it sold through in a reasonable amount of time would lead to a lot of waste? I can have spinach spun up in the microwave in a minute or two.

Same, but mine was after I'd tried most of the menu. I prefer Pizza Pro or Hunt's brothers. Domino's does have the delivery part down. if they get to a more reasonable price, I'll buy back.

CAKE (cheesecake factory) had great earnings and has some good new restaurant chains on the rise. They are killing it

Chili's has also been on fire after some dismal years.

I do like CAVA long term.

Why is this? Is it because of the listeria issue a few years back?

Not sure about whether you’d call this fast food, but Kevin Hiochman did a turnaround using simplicity and cost savings for Chilis (Brinkman Intl)
