I've heard mixed things about Costa Rica. I actually don't plan on retiring in just one place -- I'd like to spend 3/4 months in different places

I’m planning on Costa Rica. Jaco/ Los Suenos area.I’m hoping to buy a place in 2025 . But really could be anywhere. I’m in Phuket ( Rawai) now and this would work. Bangkok is a shithole. Thailand really makes the money stretch and the people are so pleasant. The only problem with Thailand is I always get sick with lung bacterial infections when I come here.something about South Asia wants to kill me.

The Ticas of Costa Rica blow away the Thai girls. Because of the prostitution here in Thailand it feels a bit sad. Hello handsome man. Maybe just skip Bangkok and Pattaya. Probably not a popular opinion.

Also the lady boys freak me out. One of my buddies here in the states married a gorgeous costa rican chick who is 20 years younger. Dude hit a home run

They almost all have baggage, multiple kids and no money. I know many ex pats living around quepos and they drink all day everyday at the local bars.

A guy I graduated high school with went there for his graduation trip and never came back. He's been there almost 30 years now. He loves it.

Already did. Best decision of my life. Colombia.
A former Marxist guerrilla wins Colombia’s election
quote:
“We are writing a new history for Colombia, Latin America and the world,” declared Gustavo Petro, the winner of Colombia’s presidential election, in Bogotá on June 19th. “Change”, he said, “will open opportunity and hope for all Colombians in every corner of the national territory.” The portentous tone was understandable. When he takes office on August 7th Mr Petro will become the country’s first left-wing president. He offers a radical departure from two decades of right-wing and centre-right rule. Mr Petro’s running-mate, Francia Márquez, a 40-year-old environmental activist, will become the country’s first black vice-president.
You might want to start looking around again. Sounds like Colombia might be the next Venezuela.

Wouldn't that be a good retirement adventure?
Retire, move to Columbia, and help them build a working man's utopia?

Last time ILB posted about this, he was close to buying a condo on Margarita Isle off of Venezuela.

Good news, bad news: there are no property rights in communism.

What are some good options where you can survive just speaking English and not have to learn the local language?

Lot of places...Europe and South America have many English speakers

I've yet to find any evidence of Venezuela taking someones personal home/apartment.
Combine that with the fact that they are moving to USD and I can buy an apartment on a top 5 beach in the world for under $30,000 makes it a very easy gamble to me.
When sanctions end, the island will blow up with tourism.
I always look for asymmetrical bets and this is about as good as they come.

How much each month do you need to live like a king in Medellin? I hear the women are very hot there too
The biggest ballers I know spend $10,000 a month but that is a lifestyle that you would spend $100,000 a month in LA for. Private driver, penthouse, finca, full-time chef, etc.
I would say for a baller penthouse, someone to cook and clean, going out a few times a week, etc you can do it for $5,000 a month.
Now, if you get outside of MDE, you can live the same life for $2,500.
The girls are insane. My GF is a legit 9.5 and treats me like she is 4.5.
