Reasonable? Own 1 property (primary residence in Louisiana), no teen drivers, no pool

Spent damn near 40 minutes on the phone with Progressive going through questions. Wish there was way to do it online but there isn't

I pay about 30% less than that for $1m.

Home and a pool.

No clue what mine is (nationwide) and I’m an agent. $300 is fair and you’re losing money with the amount of time you’re spending looking to save $20 a year lol.

Just make sure you keep your liability limits on the underlying policy in place with what they are when you take out the umbrella. Ie if you take out a million dollar umbrella with auto liability if $500k and after you take out the umbrella you reduce that down to $250k of liability, your umbrella isn’t going to pay.

A little bit high but by no means outrageous. I pay about $340 for a $2 million umbrella. When I had a $1 million umbrella I was paying around $220.

Seems about $80-100 more than typical $1M umbrella quote.

I'm looking at my bill from Costco Connect by American Family Insurance due 3/5/23. $180 for $1,000,000 umbrella. I get a $25 discount because I also have my home owners with them.

Nothing like high insurance rates for all coverages in New Orleans.

@300 per million is what I pay. I have pool, family that includes 19 & 23 y/o's listed, also added watercraft to coverage.

I got rid of my boat, but I drive other people's boats when fishing, and my 19 y/o could be driving one as well. better safe than sorry.

I want to add

compare apples to apples, not all umbrella insurance has the same coverages.

I would get an insurance agent to sit down with you and go over where you are covered and where you are not or woefully uninsured. It was eye opening. Don't just look at price, see what you are paying for.

My bottom line, I was paying @ 1k less a year for homeowners insurance, but @ 550k underinsured on home, contents underinsured or not covered, not properly insured with umbrella, and cars were over insured.

All fixed now and am lucky nothing happened during my past coverage.

I read the contract last night and it was actually $343 for $1MM - judging by the responses here, that is high. However I don't think shopping around to save $50-100 a year on this is worth it at this point. Looks like I'm going forward with it

Truer words never spoken.....Asked my mom to send me her dec page last night - 50/100/50 and she has no clue what all that meant. I basically told her that if she hits and totals a Tesla she's done. And God forbid she kills somebody when she hits said tesla.
