Great entree point into coaching career. Hillsboro High is one of the big time HS programs in Nashville. Wish him the best of success.

He certainly owes Chavis some payback. His defense let Mett down several times when the offense did enough to win, only to have Chavis blow it in the end.

Mett would have been a Heisman candidate in our current system. Dude had OBJ and Jarvis and Travin at the same time.

Just goes to show you how much success in life is just being in the right place at the right time.

Don’t think Zach would have been a Heisman winner. Zach certainly had a good arm, but mobility, not so much. JB has that ability to extend plays with his legs and at times we really needed that. Heisman finalists Fields and Hurts had that same ability.

Mett was BRILLIANT vs. Bama in 2012... that’s still the one game I have trouble letting go. They couldn’t stop OBJ/Landry... one more first down....

I let 1/9/12 go after we won the national championship in the dome this year.

I’ll never let that game go. My first HUGE game as a tiger fan. I was a freshman that year and remember watching the NCG at home in Virginia the previous winter. Then getting all of the LSU indoctrination at orientation and stripes. It was awesome. That combined with the magic of your first semester at college plus some monster football games and road trips to auburn, Florida, and the home game against USC to set the table. Waking up at like 4am to start drinking and hitting up game day and having all the bat mobiles on campus and everyone going nuts. I feel like a junky trying to recapture the high of that weekend and it’ll never be matched. Coming back from down 11 at halftime on that awesome Juice Landry touchdown in the 4th. The band playing calling Baton Rouge instrumental for the first time. And then fricking TJ Yeldon on that screen pass right in front of us. One stop on defense or one first down on offense and we have a totally different trajectory for at least 5 years. I felt like I got shot in the chest after that game. I went home to McVoy and just went immediately to sleep.

That game has fueled my passion as a Tiger fan for close to a decade now.

I will always loath AJ Mccarron and TJ Yeldon for executing that mother fricking screen.

I’ve maintained whenever I picture Alabama in my mind facing off against LSU, it’s AJ at quarterback.

That game crushed me more than 1/9/12 too....my last home game attended as a student...unbelievable hype.

I remember Russell Shepard chunking a ball into the SS right after Callin' Baton Rouge pre-game. "Shep threw a pass!"

Honey Badger would have been in coverage on Weldon IF he hadn’t been kicked off the team. Inexperience at the position.

Then the comparisons the next few years..."He's going to be the next Honey Badger/play the same role"

Micah Eugene....nope
Jerquinick Sandolph....lol no
Dwayne Thomas...okay but not quite

Took a few seasons to figure out there won't ever be a player on defense like the Honey Badger.

I wasn’t a student anymore but it was my last game in the student section. Bought a ticket from a friend who was a year younger than me and borrowed his ID for one last hurrah in the student section.

Couldn’t believe it ended the way it did. I remember they put gold towels on everyone’s seat before the game. I don’t think a single person in the student section kept theirs. They were all thrown on/at/around the field after that screen pass.

Regardless of his NFL career... I'm glad he was @ LSU!
