He didn't use LSU to leverage a higher dollar.

Not in a Delino DeShields manner but you're kidding yourself if you don't think LSU was leverage.

Because LSU was leverage.

He told the coaches the number it would take. The Dodgers gave him a lot more than the number he wanted late. He was up front from the very beginning to all the coaches and never waivered from that number. So yes, LSU is always leverage because they are playing high level ball. And the dodgers would never get him again. But he didn't do what Colvin and Van Rosenburg did. My point is he had no wrong intention in using LSU as leverage. Other than what the university naturally provides being such a draw as a program.

The kid put on an LSU jersey. He never played a game but never missed used the school. HE IS A TIGER.

His 5 year clock started when he enrolled.

He will never play college football.

He could be entering the NFL Draft this year and if he had a good career at LSU and if he was going in the 1st Round could be getting $15 million plus for Signing Bonus. He took Chump Change to play MLB!

If a MLB player is merely a Tiger fan, I include him as one of us.

People having a problem with the thread, it's probably because that's something we reserve for LSU alumni or players that left early for the pro's. We never got to see Zach in a Tiger uniform.

Still one thread is no harm. Glad to see him doing well.

This is a huge what-if. If I was in his shoes, I'd probably done the same. He was considered one of the top pitching talents at that time and the Dodgers gave him the most lucrative rookie contract ever in their franchise history. He wasn't rated as high of a prospect at QB as he was at pitcher and there is still the possibility of Mettenberger coming in and taking the QB job.

He was a Tiger though. Enrolled, went to class, and participated in Spring practice.

I wasn't aware that he enrolled,so no chance of a Josh Booty-like return to LSU football if baseball fizzles out?

edit: nevermind, i see it was already discussed.

I recall seeing a picture of Zach at fall practice in a LSU helmet. Not sure if that constitutes being "enrolled" since classes hadn't started.

I think it would come down to a technicality - if he was considered "enrolled" then, then no chance he could play CFB. Else, he still has CFB eligibility.

Somewhere between "Cam Newton money" and "Lache Seastrunk money".

Hardly

Yep but his minor league exploits are as relevant to as Colvin and Von Rosenburg's.
