The biggest problem with Underwood, is the Michigan billionaire. If Underwood had a big year at LSU, he just get bought out to return to UM.

If he left and had success like that at LSU I am not concerned he would leave again for more money. And even if he did, college football is truly a year to year thing now.

Or he can take less, develop and set himself up for an NFL gig and more long term money. The question is can he look to the future rather than the now.

Underwood's dad said, "I don't want to work no more." I'm not sure how far this family can see in the future.

You don’t walk into the restaurant kitchen and tell the chef how to cook….

Lane will do the BEST for this program…bc in the end….it’s his rep that is at stake.

Leavitt reportedly has LSU at the top right now and he's the biggest name in the portal at this moment with NFL potential. Will someone want him more than LSU bidding higher? who knows. I have not see anything on Kiffin being interested in Underwood. If Kiffin wants him then LSU is probably going to get him. They will give him whoever he wants in the portal to make him happy that was the deal.

To be fair he would have struggled this year with that O-line and play calling not to mention the defensive hall we got which kept us in games.

We need an OL before anything else.

This has been proven to be true year after year at every level. A freak athlete can mask how bad an o line is but odds of winning anything of significance are very low.

Not betting on Underwood, too much Michigan Money will keep him there. We need to be looking at that former 4 star at A&M who was injured this season, the guy at Arizona State, and of course the Ole Miss Qb if he's eligible.

I think the wrong question is being asked about Underwood. It's not how we are looking at him, it's how we are looking at all QBs.

The real question is: Is there a "gettable" QB that can perform how we think Underwood would (assuming development)?

If he is projected as one of a kind (at least for this portal cycle) then the price tag matters. But if we can get the same from any other QB (this cycle) then the NIL, our recruiting of him in the past, his lackluster numbers in a lackluster offense doesn't matter one bit.

Forget about the name Underwood. It's simple supply and demand.

Most kids his age can’t. Especially when they have people associated with them wanting their “cut” now.

He’s a less polished Jalen Hurts at this stage. He has potential but there’s a low chance he could come in and run Lane’s offense to the level fans would celebrate here.

I don't think we are shelling at $12 mil for anyone. We don't have a L Ellison.

It was $12M total over 4 years. I’m guessing after the results of this first year they want to restructure and aren’t going to be paying him $3M per moving forward. My issue with him isn’t the fact he decommitted and went to Michigan. My issue is the fact that he sucked

I don’t think Underwood has a choice. He needs to stay in Michigan because his body of work is not going to get him even $2 million a year from any other school right now. Given what you saw this year how much would you pay him a year to be your starting quarterback?

Then he has to get a real job…

Not with that money unless there is some sort of performance clause in his contract. Also, he has to have a legitimate NIL approved “job”.

My point exactly. He will make enough money at Michigan in 4 years so he wouldn’t have to work another day in his life. None. A smart financial manager can take that 8MM and provide him a nice monthly income for the rest of his life not touching the original 8MM.

Lane Kiffin and Weiss Jr would make Underwood a huge problem for defenses almost immediately. If he did come I’d be thrilled still. Along with any other remotely duel threat QB.

I don't disagree at all, but I still don't think we need him at $3M/year. He's not going to go anywhere for less money, he's not looking at potential upside for the future. We can get someone just ad good for cheaper.
