They were the preseason #1 in a couple of polls. College baseball isn't very closely followed by the media, not like other major sports. They get it wrong a whole bunch of the time.
This is an inconsistent team. How else can you explain winning 2/3 on the road against a team ranked #2 at the time, and losing 2/3 here?
