Turns out you can't just fill a team with transfers from Who the frick U and expect a good season
We've been down this road a million times. You evaluate each player on a case by case basis. Simpson was always going to have swing and miss, but having absolutely no power here could not be expected. Yorke, they tried to make a power hitter out of a line drive hitter. It didn't work. You learn and move on. Dardar showed promise but has dealt with injuries. Carraway was a starter on a CWS team.
Don't immediately write a player off because he came from a lower level. Don't immediately expect a player to be a stud because he played in the SEC or ACC or Big 12.

He still has to coach and develop them you dumb motherfricker.
Its the ultimate red flag that this team is non competitive a year after winning it all.

People bashing him are ignorant. You have to build a new team every year. You don’t have elite talent waiting in the wings while they platoon in the outfield.
The expectations our rant fans have are unsustainable in the modern era. This ain’t the ‘90’s.

Was parroted the entire 2024 season. Y’all were right. Jay will never win anything after that lucky 2023 title.

I 100% agree with this statement here ! Lost a lot of production from last year and tried to replace it with transfers those guys didn’t play well on paper looked good but they missed in the portal and let some guys go that they probably should have kept to develop !

If we were getting our doors blown off day in and day out, it would be one thing. That hasn't been the case all year outside of like 3 games. Believe it or not, it's actually pretty normal to have some bag games.
What's not normal is losing every close game you play. That's why this season is an outlier.

It’s safe to say JJ isn’t that great of a coach and more of a great recruiter, which he failed at miserably this year

It’s safe to say this is fricking stupid and has zero basis in facts.

Your comment makes no sense!

Moreover, I want you to name who the "great coaches" are in college baseball.

He is also playing in a totally different era than skip played in !

No. He isn't the one walking and making errors, but he is the one that constructed and coaches this team full of players that walk and make the errors.

Like at some point, what is the coach supposed to do?
Recruit better player and develop the ones that he has to be better. It’s very disappointing how many players have regressed since last year.

I would say recruiting has been what he was best at. In the 2023 postseason Jay pulled all the right strings. Plenty of ultra talented teams have not won the CWS. You’ve got to be a good coach to do it. And especially good to do it more than once. The SEC is full of great coaches and players. You can’t just coach average players past them.

Agree with your post. Being critical of specific decisions is not the same as bashing or wanting him fired.
I darn shore don't want him fired.
OTOH, I think he would agree with me that the he doesn't want to be regarded as someone who has to have generational talents and minimal injuries to win titles.
Rather, I think Jay would like to show (in the words of Bum Phillips w.r.t. Don Shula), "he can take his and whip yours or he can take yours and whip his."

He’s not a good coach, he’s good at collecting talent, which is totally fine in college baseball, but let’s not pretend he’s a good coach or developing any talent whatsoever
wtf coaching has he done this year? He literally threw all his players under the bus last weekend when he said in the post game conference when he said he “whiffed on the portal” yeah no shite idiot you can’t coach, he’s literally telling you this to your face
Not to mention how much talent they had on the roster to start the year as a Preseason #2. With that much talent you think he could coach them up to at least beat McNeese State

Ok so a coach isn’t a coach, got it
And average players? Jay Johnson has never had average players at lsu nor has any other coach in lsu baseball history since the late 80s
