Dale Murphy won back to back NL Mvps. Was elite in the 80s. Was second only to Mike Schmidt for the most homers in the 80s. His knee problems ruined the back end of his career. He deserves to be in the hall of fame. Ended with 398 homers. Can't get much closer to your imaginary 400 homer threshold than that.
