This year has proven JJ will never have this description.

He can’t even win the SEC with generational talent.

Without a top 5 pick and several other top picks he’s going to have losing records.

Recruit better player and develop the ones that he has to be better. It’s very disappointing how many players have regressed since last year.

Jay is a good coach but he should be ashamed of himself for letting it get this bad. We’ll see how it goes next year he will have a ton of extra time to plan out his portal strategy this time so no excuses

The original is Bum referring to Bear Bryant. It has since been adjusted over time, including Shula.

I would wait till the end of next season to start writing off Johnson as a bad coach (considering these woes continue). I do think this seasons problems are due to coaching and feel the same about him throwing his players under the bus. It’s his responsibility to be consumed with staff in recruiting and developing players. His players can’t field and his pitchers can’t pitch as needed. Feels like coaching got complacent after winning “Natty” last year. Let’s see if they can right the sinking ship.

It goes both ways for players and coaches, you are all or should be held accountable and should all get the credit and blame. But if I have to give out more blame for this year, it goes to the players, they are not performing. Some of that lies on Jay and staff missing on talent but the players also should have some pride about themselves and up their game and all I see is the same ho hum effort. I totally agree with what Jay is doing by playing the younger guys.

Its “this bad” because of injuries.

Theyd be on the bubble otherwise

I love Jay and obviously don't want him to go anywhere but if they lose today it's the longest SEC losing streak in LSU baseball history.

Everyone deserves criticism for this season, including Jay.

He gets all the glory and praise for the titles, rightfully so. But he also gets to criticism as his team finds new ways to extend a historical losing streak

Most of these people have never coached a day in their lives outside of Little League and probably couldn’t lead a whore too bed lol

yup. I’m 100% convinced that half these people have never played a sport in their lives, much less spent a day in a dugout with a lineup card. It’s pretty obvious tho who is in the “lifelong fan so I can coach” or “lifelong coach and fan”
