How many at bats does Arrambide even have? Not fair to compare like that with widely different at bats.

Not saying you are wrong, I’m just curious why you singled out Arrambide? He has more at bats than Braun.

But to answer your question yes, Yorke has more plate appearances (39) than Arrambide (26) and Braun (20). Pearson has 33 and is cemented in the lineup hitting just .240 in conference (remember Arrambide is at .250).

York has had 13 more plate appearances to get 5 hits, which ironically is what Arrambide has. Yorke is also at 33% K rate compared to Arrambide at 23%.

I understand the argument you are making in less plate appearances, but when you break it down to beyond this year, all I’m saying is should we see more of the young guys and less of Yorke?

He plays the best 1B defense on the team

It's not a defensive position. He can be a late game defensive sub if we're winning but you don't go into a game with a guy who can't hit at 1B.

He gets on base

Only because he's completely passive at the plate. He also leads the team in Ks. He doesn't swing the bat, which anyone can do and again not what you want at 1B. And then he suddenly swings 3-0 when you're on the verge of getting a Friday night starter out the game early.

The constant Yorke threads are so fricking tiresome

With the emergence of Pearson and Dardar he's become the biggest hole in this lineup aside from C defense, but at least Serna can mash. The weakest link is always gonna get picked on.

Early on Yorke was at bat with a runner on first and third with less than two outs. His job there is to drive the ball in the air to the outfield or hit a ground ball to the right side to bring the runner home.

You want Yorke to hit a ground ball with a runner on first and 1 out? Thats almost certainly a double play.

I think the problem is there is no one else on the roster who can competently play 1B.

Braun was the #1 recruit at 1B in the entire country according to Perfect Game. They even had this statement in their write up:

quote:

Primary first baseman on defense, comes to the ball aggressively, very good footwork, quick turns on the double play with very good arm strength, high level defensive tools and actions at first base.

Braun profile on Perfect Game

Yet, I don't recall seeing him even getting a chance there in a game this year. Is his defense that bad in practice?

One thing to note, if you do bench Yorke we would be taking our 3rd leading base stealer overall (2nd in conference), out of the lineup.

He had a terrible night and something is off with his swing and timing. But I honestly love the 3-0 green light in that spot. That was a great pitch to ambush in that bandbox park. I wouldn’t be surprised if Johnson gave him the green light there to try and get on the board and get his confidence back rolling.

We have all seen it. Just pitch him inside and he will watch it time and time again. If he does swing, he is late.

To me, you can pitch him inside or outside. He struggles to reach the outside pitches too. Lots of weak fly balls.

That was my biggest surprise/disappointment with Yorke. Usually, big guys like him have oppo power. He seems to only have power to right and the pitch really needs to be a mistake.

I didn't follow him enough to know, but it's been said on here that he's projected to be a 1b on measurables and didn't really play anything but OF before coming here. Assuming thats actually the case you might be able to eventually work him in there with reps but I don't think you can just drop him there for the first time in an away SEC series.

Y’all really don’t understand what it means when a 5’11” LH player is projected as a 1B. : lol:

You know why they are made and the same? Because he’s bad and shouldn’t be playing in the SEC

I agree with Yorke being tied up mentally. No longer confident at the plate.
We’re starting to see it in his body language after his failed at-bats.

In the 4th inning when the game was paused for the trainer to evaluate the pitcher, Yorke had a 3-0 count and what does he do? He completely bails out the injured pitcher and pops it up to the infield. This was absolutely inexcusable and was infuriating to watch.

I truly think that moment was so bad, given the context, you should immediately be pulled from the game
