Wrong, we did not have enough talent on defense yet. O left the cupboard bare.

Dave is an exceptional DC. He’s an average HC.

This was NOT the point of the OP. I'd love him as DC, but NOT as HC.

What was the point of the post to which I responded? The one that had this:

Aranda who is way overated even as a DC.

I'll admit there were times in 2019 I was worried. Like against ole miss, John Rice Plummly looked like Michael Vick against us. So ... Fair point.

I maintain Dave wasn’t ready for HC in Power 5 but definitely pushed out the door by Orgeron and Tiger Ree in favor of 4-3 “attacking defense.”

mid DC”. The numbers you posted bare that out.

Average number of plays per drive in college football is 6.5 to 7. LSU was at 4.9 in 2019. You're gonna give up yards and points when your offense is off the field in 3 minutes or less

Tale as old as the game... Some coaches are amazing position coaches, but suck as coordinators. Some coordinators are all-world, but fail as head coaches.

Dave Arranda is why there was a national title in 2019.

The adult in the room.

When Arranda walked out the program went right in the shitter.

Aranda was a mid defensive coordinator. If the offense in 2019 wasn't all-world, his defense could have scuttled the season.

Oklahoma avg 42.1 points a game with a QB that’s won 1 and been to 2 SB and a top 3 NFL WR. Clemson avg 43.9 ppg with a #1 pick at QB and NFL WR. Aranda’s D held them to 28 and 25 points. The game has changed, you’re not gonna get stats like 2011 or 2003 especially with an offense like LSU had.

Without Aranda leading that 2019 defense, there's probably no GOAT season. We all know the coordinators and players won that season in spite of the head coach.

Does Baylor buy players like a major SEC program does? Not saying his coaching his great, but that's a major factors right now.

Until there's a legit break up of the new vs old setup of CFB programs we will see this in these games, other than ones like utx/osu games.

I mean….there was talk late in the 2019 season that LSU shouldn’t be the number 1 seed based on how badly the defense played

On Tiger Droppings

There’s no excuse for the defense against Ole Miss but it was the week after a big emotional win at Bama and while annoying watching JRP run all over they never got closer than 11. Arkansas scored 2 garbage time TDs after it was 56-6 and then throttled A&M 7 and UGA 10.

Baylor isn’t LSU. The caliber of player he can get compared to LSU or other blue bloods doesn’t correlate to coaching ability.

How many Championship rings has BK earned? He has coached at Notre Dame and LSU. Number of championships those two have won?

Now! Number of football championships owned by Baylor?

Thank yew.

That seems to be what O thought… instead of realizing that he probably wouldn’t have made it to 2019 without Aranda.
