Bennett and mcarthy are wayyy more mobile and can extend plays

That's not the same thing. OP is talking about your QB being the source of your running game. Not just extending plays. Nuss does that well enough considering how good we seem to be at pass blocking

Drizz, I actually found myself wondering when basketball season will start, I'm gonna get my heart stomped on multiple times this season again.
Morning Dom.

I’m cautiously optimistic for basketball this season. But then again, it’s early September.

Is this DomerDroppings?

Check mate. It was an ignorant statement. He can coach linemen and have a strong running game. History has proven this. He didn’t forget just because he came to lsu.

I don't remember anything he's said about the subject, but this was definitely not a thought that was original to him, or anyone else. I have not been impressed with our run blocking for 5 years now, and it was clear we were going to have to improve there, without a dual threat QB to keep defenses from stacking the box.

This is a highly touted offensive line. They aren't backing up the talk.

This is a result of our coaching not having a clue how to run an offense without a mobile qb....because other top teams do it just fine.

Agreed. We should be able to manufacture a running game without a mobile QB. The scheme is flawed and Daniels covered it up the last 2 years.

ahhhh, so the last 4 straight national champions that had their qbs average around 15 yards a game

If you don’t think Bennett and mcarthy are wayyy more mobile and can extend plays better than nuss has shown so far then you definitely don’t know what you are watching.

Nuss has the ability to very mobile. You could see that he is quick if he actually takes off (like when he did last night and picked up 12 on a carry). But so far, Nuss has shown a real hesitancy to run. USC dared him to run, but he wouldn't. He has -45 rushing yards for his career in limited playing time.

Those other QBs didn't take off a lot, but they took when necessary and made big plays with their legs. They averaged positive yards even with the negative sack yards included. Mac Jones was probably the last really non-mobile QB to win an NC, but that was during COVID against subpar defenses and he was rarely touched with all the talent they had on offense.

But LSU should be a better running team with this O-line and that is ultimately on BK. JD was a cheat code with the running game.

The biggest deficit that I see is at the center position... DJ Chester is having a tough time; secondly, there seems to be no explosiveness in the Oline... big and slow, built for pass protection and not coached for run blocking

No, I didn’t.

I agreed with him to a point.

My question was, will they allow Nuss to run on occasion?

So far, that answer is no.

It is because most offenses are switching philosophies to a mobile type QB offense. I don't know if we lined up one time under center last night. The game is evolving and traditional type offenses are going away.

One of the things that encouraged me about Kelly was the claim to build scheme annually around the roster.

Meanwhile, fast forward to year 3 — our problems running the ball are due to an RPO scheme with a pocket passer who should be leading an offense that looks more like UGA under Smart.

Lester Earl is a good poster, just doesn't day what everyone wants to hear. Sometimes, oftentimes, truth hurts.

Oline runblocking was my biggest fear by far coming into this season...
