Raymond is definitely ahead of Steeples on the recruiting front but we're also in the position we are because of the way Raymond left here. He struck out a lot towards the end of his tenure here. Not to take away from what he accomplished here, because he did A LOT of good. But there's no denying towards the end he was struggling. Remember he took Darren Evans in the portal then had to play him a lot in 2021? We were on a downward trend there before he ever left. Not to say he couldnt turn it around, just stating what it was like in his last bit here. Lots of guys who couldnt play, then guys who didnt pan out like Ricks (Suspension so transferred and as a 5-star wasn't even drafted) and McGlothern (could not get aligned with new regime, spending his senior year now at Arkansas). So even the guys who were any good didnt make it here ultimately.

Not only that, but we are comparing recruits Raymond signed in the Pre-NIL era to recruits we are trying to sign in the Wild West of NIL. The jury is still out on steeples. I’ll reserve judgment until the ink is dry on the class of 2024

Yeah, they did great for 3 games. They also played 15. Vandy scored 40 points, Texas and UF were bad teams that had no business being in the game yet had chances to win because of how poor the defense was. Ole Miss damn near hit 40 with a lame duck coach and a running back playing QB

Many times under his watch, the DB group underperformed, especially in the later part of his term at LSU.
The only thing I can think of that LSU has missed since his departure would be the swagger and the pride the secondary always seemed to play with. But that could also be said about the entire defense so hard to say if he had anything to do with that.

Because Filsaime is a safety. Steeples doesn’t coach the safeties.
If you’re going to bitch at least bitch about the right coach. And I’m ignoring last years class because the comment said Raymond is kicking Steeples arse in THIS class. Which isn’t the truth at all.
Raymond has been in one top flight corner according to the recruiting services but this coaching staff views him as a safety. Cai Bates is rated higher than any other corner Florida has committed.
