I think Aranda will be a good HC some day...
Why?
Look, he may be a good HC one day, but coordinator jobs are COMPLETELY different than head coach. There are many, many great coordinators who were awful head coaches. Much different skill set and temperament required.
So yes, Aranda may be a good HC down the road, but just because a guy is a good coordinator doesn't always translate into him being a good HC. I'd prefer to hire a proven commodity, when Les is done.

i hope aranda is the next head coach at lsu.
Me too. Obviously I want to see what happens this year, but he's got that Saban vibe about him. I can't pinpoint what it is, but its there.
If he can recruit well, he's going to be an elite HC.

The first time the defense gives up 400 yards the mouth breathers on here will calling for his head. That is a fact.

LSU isn't an on the job training Head Coach destination.
People always bring this up, but Jimbo Fisher, who most of this board was drooling over, got his first HC gig at Florida State. Same with Dabo. Let's not act like our recent success makes us too good to give a guy with no HC experience a shot.

Aranda has not coached ONE DOWN at LSU yet. He did well his three years at Wisconsin, but let's see how he does here in the SEC first before we slap on that HCIW tag....
I do believe he will do well here, but I said that about players/coaches before and have been burned...

Absolutely.
People here are stupid.
Also, I don't know he will be an elite HC, its just a feeling I have. He has long since proven he's an elite DC though. If he can get the recruiting thing down from learning from Les and our crack squad of recruiters, he's going to be a GREAT one.
I love his temperament and approach to the game as a puzzle he needs to solve. Reminds me of Houston's head coach.

Nick and Les have made LSU a destination job and not a steppingstone. This is true even though LSU turned out not to be good enough for Nick. I would be hard pressed to being assistant coach happy at this time.
In my opinion, Georgia has taken a mighty big gamble in turning their program over to an assistant coach after having a highly successful coach already running their program for over a decade. College football is ripe with examples of programs, highly respected programs, making new coaching hires that turned out to be unsuccessful.
I don't think some people have a true understanding or appreciation of how very fortunate we have been with our last two coaching hires.

Can he recruit? That's really all I care about.

I think I'll wait to see how he does in his curent job first.
Posted on 8/24/16 at 10:09 am to Lionnation1993
can I watch how the defense plays in a game and get back to you?
Posted on 8/24/16 at 10:12 am to Lionnation1993
If Les is here 5 or more years and Frank has success and a rapid rise as a HC I'd be all for him! Would be a much better "Face of the Program" type of guy.

An we at least see him coach one game first? Jeeeez
Posted on 8/24/16 at 10:26 am to Lionnation1993
Depends. How much longer is Les here. If you are talking about after this year then no. If you are talking about Les staying for another 5 years or so and Aranda leaves after this year or next year and goes be a successful head coach at a group of 5 school then yes. LSU in no way shape or form should never hire a coach without any head coaching experience.

Let's pump the brakes before we print the shirts.

Man alive, you're epically putting the cart before the horse.

If aranda shuts down Alabama I'm in favor.

Saw these same threads about Cam and O. All of these suggestions are foolish.

With this crew of assnuggets we have running the show, it wouldn't surprise me if they promoted BDP.

Would rather see him coach a year or two (lets see how he does) and then convince his good buddy Tom Herman to come join him as the head coach.
That idea might have merit. Houston is renowned as a cradle of head coaches. Look at the the success last Houston HC has had at a Power conference.
