dude

Coach O is our Head Coach - why would he want to be anything other than the Head Coach

A better question would be - after Coach O wins 3 natty's who will he pick to replace him ?

The Egg: "Would Coach O take a demotion to be part of the next staff?"

No. If a new HC comes in, he's going back West.

His contract is for a HC position.

We would have to pay his buyout and then hire him at a lower position. So essentially we would pay HC pay for an assistant.

In other words for LSU; highly plausible

You are becoming one of the worst posters on the rant with your Coach O infatuation.

I think Lane would allow him to be on staff as DL/RC role.

won't happen, if O gets fired he has too much pride to take a back seat.

And who would blame him? No way that happens.

coachspeak, my man. Most of what comes out of any coach's mouth should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

whoever ends up with Coach O on their staff will be very fortunate to get such a hard worker, ace recruiter, and defensive line expert.

I'm not even sure they are friends. Lane played the heck out of O to 1) Help Saban by getting LSU to hire O 2) Got himself a promotion

Lane was the play, and was probably the MOST important reason Alleva felt "safe" with O. That and having Aranda.

I seriously doubt he would nor could I imagine keeping the former head coach on staff.

I'll be shocked of O ever wins 10 games in a regular season first.

Sarcasm my man, Orgeron literally said USC was his dream job a few years ago before he came to LSU.
