It may be time to consider retrofitting a retractable roof on to Tiger Stadium

We do get such nice crisp fall wind at our games.

If you think it's feasible or realistic to put a dome on Tiger Stadium and pump in AC, I want some of what you are smoking.

You can debate this all day, but it will NEVER happen.

This is a discussion board. I was just throwing out a question. Would people be more likely to stay if they were in a climate controlled space, rather than an oven? I included a link to a company that provides options for stadiums - shade structure, full roof, and retractable roof options.

I am not advocating for any of these per se. I wanted to see what people thought about the option.

We have a dome in New Orleans. I think people like it. I don't hear people saying that the Saints aren't playing football because there is no wind/rain/unbearable sunshine.

What I do hear, is people whining that they couldn't stay the whole game at Tiger Stadium bEcaUsE iT Is tOo HoT.

Since the South End Zone upper deck was built it has really affected airflow inside the stadium. It has been downright stagnant even when heat and humidity have been otherwise tolerable.

Traffic, parking, cell data, cost/ease of concessions, and glorious affordable huge HD flat screens in climate controlled living rooms.

Of that list, cell data seems the easiest to fix.

Are there too many people on the network or is there literally no signal? (I live in a stone farmhouse, so cell signal inside my house is nil)

Here is an article from 3 years ago about getting service during the Super Bowl. The solutions don't sound complicated/costly.

I'd love a roof like what Seattle has; but I'd prefer to somehow add 10,000 more seats with the roof, so that this would be the biggest capacity CFB stadium. Michigan is tops right now, I think LSU comes in at #5 - less than 500 more seats would bump them to #3

Michigan Michigan Stadium (Ann Arbor, Mich.) 107,601
2 Penn State Beaver Stadium (University Park, Pa.) 106,572
3 Texas A&M Kyle Field (College Station, Texas) 102,733
4 Tennessee Neyland Stadium (Knoxville, Tenn.) 102,455
5 LSU Tiger Stadium (Baton Rouge, La.) 102,321

Some brand new multi story garages. Parking solved.

You ever parked on say floor 3 or higher in garage for a major event? Good luck getting out. By the time you get out of there, you'll have forgotten all about the traffic.

I think the expansion of tiger stadium was unnecessary.

Instead of a stupid roof, just add 10,000 AC units and cool down everything. Cool air pouring in from above (cold air sinks you know!) Plus it's way cheaper.

No, 59% of ticket owning fans are pussies and will use any random excuse to defend why they are such.

Man frick that. I'd welcome anything over them early season hot arse games, including this weekend vs Utah. It's going to be 90+ by end of First Quarter.
AND how bout McNeese 2015? I think the fans would have taken a roof that night.

New Zealand has a small rugby stadium that the All Blacks have played in that is pretty nifty. It's only 30k capacity. But One day we will see the ability to nullify weather delays in large stadiums with something retractable/clear/etc. WITHOUT building a new stadium.
It just may be 50 yrs away

Agreed. There may come a day when drone technology can effectively keep the entire stadium shaded reducing the Early Sept kickoff temps

They are going to try it at the 2022 Qatar World Cup

They'll probably wait and put one on The New Tiger Stadium, down in St Gabriel.
