The most flagrant blown call I've ever seen in my life was in a game in Nashville back in 1990, and it literally changed the outcome of the game.
A phantom OPI against Todd Kinchen in the endzone wiped out his winning TD catch of a pass from Chad Loup on the LAST PLAY OF THE GAME!!!

Actually, that was a good call. I was at that game! He pushed the defender in the back to give himself room to make the catch. The unfair part of the call was that back then OPI was a loss of down penalty. So that was literally the last play of the game. Now of course, the down is replayed.

That was an awfully weak call for sure. He simply put his arms horizontal. The way players "showboat" all the time going into the endzone, that was a stretch to call that taunting. On the unsportsmanlike call vs Alexander the OL in that Alabama game, that was a total JOKE!. I believe he did put his foot forward into the Alabama player's face, but if we are talking about the same play, the Alabama player wouldn't let go of his leg. Sssssoooo, how about an unsportsmanlike penalty along with a delay of game penalty against the Alabama player.

I was in high school at the time…still remember my dad rewatching the game to jot down the no-calls on a notepad.

I think there were multiple pages…

ETA this is referring to Auburn ‘06

Kinchen didn't push the defender. He had his arm out on the play but there was no intent to gain advantage for the receiver. It was a horrible call and it cost our team a win, on the last play of the game.

Game winning TD by Iowa in the ‘05 Capital One Bowl…

Bunch of holds/blocks in back; none called.

That 06 Auburn game had horrific calls.

LaFell was also held (or was it PI) in the endzone right in front of LSU fans. He couldn't even try to catch a pass because his arms were pinned by the defender.

The Daints no call was an awful call. BUT, the Saints had many chances to blow that game open and failed to execute. That play would not have even been an issue had they had the lead they should have

patrick peterson, bama game

What makes that even worse was the no-call on an obvious spearing, when Bama tried to kill JJ.
That was one of those games you just accepted would be a loss, after watching awhile. We weren't going to be allowed to win.

The tipped-pass against Auburn was terrible too. Sure, the ball was tipped... AFTER the Auburn DB made a great form tackle on our WR. Wasn't even just a hit, he hit and wrapped up.

Not LSU, but those final play calls in Miami's wins last year were awful. The rule for replay is supposed to be: the play stands as called, unless replay is irrefutable. There was one game where they called a TD on field to beat Miami, and they looked at replay for 5-10 minutes and basically said "we can't prove he caught the ball, so it's incomplete and Miami wins".

But, yeah... as far as no-calls, nothing beats the Saints-Rams game. And as far as actual penalty calls, nothing really tops pulling the score off the board because our fricking PUNTER got cocky on the way into the endzone.

Edit: Also, the re kick vs auburn in their house, block their fg and the refs come up with some absolute horseshite so they could win after we earned it by blocking it.

Was actually a correct call as per the rules for that year. Prude jumped the DL to block the kick and that was illegal until Nick told them how wrong that rule was at the NCAA Rules conference after the season. They immediately changed the rule and eliminated that penalty.

Auburn pass interference not called due to tipped ball. I complained online about a review and within 5 minutes got a reply from the article's writer Ivan Maisel that the play call was not reviewable. Still hated it but impressed that Maisel avtually reponded to a fan(atic).

Not a penalty but in 2000 vs Alabama in Tiger Stadium when they tried to give Alabama the ball after picking up a flag for “halo violation” it was going to get very very ugly if the team didn’t convince the officials to look at the scoreboard replay.

If anyone doesn’t remember/not old enough, we hadn’t beaten Alabama in Tiger Stadium since 1969. We were the better team but it was a close game. In the 4th quarter, Alabama punted to LSU and our returner got blasted about when the ball arrived and the ball was recovered by LSU. A flag was thrown, but after a long discussion, they picked the flag up. Everyone was furious. Then, inexplicably, the refs pointed to signal it was Alabama’s ball. It was such an insane call that I’m not sure everyone knew what just happened. People were coming unglued. Alabama’s offense came on the field and so did our defense.

Luckily, the refs huddled again and our defense demanded that the refs look at the scoreboard (this was before replay reviews). There was no question that LSU recovered the ball. They saw it and awarded the ball back to LSU.

There would have been rioting on the field if they didn’t get that fixed.

auburn was holding before the tip so that is what should have been called tipped or not.
