The flag on the missed extra point that allowed them to rekick at the end of game. I believe it was against auburn.

One that I never see mentioned or talked about regarding this topic…
It was back in 2009 against Arkansas when we wore the pro combat uniforms (all white and gold helmets). Arky threw a deep ball down the left sideline going towards the SEZ, and Craig Loston had the WR lined up to deliver a huge hit. He ended up completely whiffing but got flagged for targeting due his “intent” to commit the penalty.
I never understood how you can 1) call a penalty that literally didn’t occur or 2) be able to determine what a player’s “intent” was with certainty.
This could totally be my misunderstanding of the rule book, but I always thought this one was silly. Thankfully it didn’t have an effect on who won.

Wrong. Defensive holding coulda been called. Grand theft auburn was rigged.
8 missed calls no calls cost us that game. Go back and watch it.

Not a penalty, but worst call I've ever seen was 2018 TAMU, Either 1st or 2nd OT, FB catches in the flats a pass from Mond. Has full control and takes 2 full steps. Gets hit by either Delpit or White, fumbles, and I think Delpit picks it up. Game over. Ref says incomplete pass. Absolutely 0 reason that was incomplete. LSU should've won that game. He had possession.

Mine is actually a penalty wave off. 2006 LSU @ Auburn, 2 mins and some change left, 4th and long, J.Russell throws a deep pass that's incomplete in the middle of the field at like the 3. A flag comes out immediately. Pass interference on the defense, 15 yard penalty, automatic 1st down LSU. The game goes to commercial, when it comes back on, the ref picks up the flag and says no call because the ball was tipped. At this point in time there is no video review, even CBS said they couldn't do that. But they did, Auburn ball and we lose 7-3.
Shamefullly punched a hole in my drywall after this

I’m not sure of the teams, but in the late 70’s two very big teams were playing - I think one was Nebraska. The QB threw a deep pass which was undercut and intercepted by the safety who went high to get it and consequently fell to the ground; he rolled over, got up and ran it back for a touchdown because the other team left the field when they saw him hit the deck. The referee was about three yards from the guy and looking right at him when he hit the deck and rolled over. It was surreal.

holding is rarely a point of emphasis foul - the UNS was that year. Glad the rule was short lived.

The NOLA no call... I'm gonna be honest, and I know this is an unpopular take, but in real time I didn't think it was a PI. Now in slow motion, from the angle behind, of course it was. But as a die hard Saints fan even I didn't see it as PI in real time.

Were you sitting in the nosebleeds? Cmon man, Stevie Wonder seen that one

At Buffalo Wild Wings in Midland Tx. It's still painful to think about. I'm not saying it wasn't PI, it 100% was, but in real time with the TV view it looked more bang bang. Once I saw the replay from the sideline field view (basically what the ref saw) it was obvious and I was sick. But go watch the replay of the Fox broadcast and I think you'll see what I mean.

That day in Auburn was ugly. There were several calls that didn't go LSU’s way. Cost LSU a national championship IMO

Watch the first 5 seconds. It still looks bang bang FROM THAT VIEW. Again this is not what the refs saw. He was 3 ft. from the play, but the Fox angle made it tough to see. Sorry, it's just what I remember thinking live, and I guess I still do. But it was a horrible call when you see the replay from the refs angle.

1979 USC face mask call on Benji Thibodeaux.

The non-targeting call when the Gump literally smashed QB Daniels. Even Lane Kiffen said, "if that's not targeting, nothing is".
Buck Fama, hate those cheater assholes.

An honorable mention for me was the personal foul call in the closing minute of the muddy, Penn St bowl game. The Penn St player was laying on our ball carrier WAY after the play to stall and the officials did nothing about it. So 1 of our OL grabbed the guy to get him off our player so we could start the next play. Refs flagged him for doing the job they should have done to begin with.

How about the no holding call on Bama on a touchdown run where three blockers were holding three LSU defenders simultaneously. I’m sure that there is a GIF for that play if it hasn’t already been submitted criminal.
