Can all of you House bashers tell me which DC is going to give them an elite defense with Andre Sam, Major burns, Welch, toviano, stamps etc Transfers and freshman and have them playing at an elite level in the best conference. Not to mention a subpar dline that can’t pressure the qb with a 4-man rush.
The personnel wasn't good enough to be elite. No one is going to argue otherwise. It wasn't good enough to be great. Hell, it probably wasn't even good enough to be "good".
But here's the thing...IT DID NOT HAVE TO BE elite, great, or even good. It just had to be about as good as Arkansas's defense. Or Syracuse. Or Minnesota. Or Pittsburgh. It just had to be a unit that wasn't one of the absolute worst on 3rd down.
The overall personnel on this defense should have been good enough to be somewhere in the 60-70 range. Good look at the teams in that range. There is NO WAY, even with LSU's clear deficiencies, you can plausibly tell anyone LSU didn't have, overall, the personnel comparable to those units. No DC had a greater margin for error in LSU history (maybe Aranda in 2019) than House this season. Yet, he fell woefully short or reaching one of the lowest bars for success of any DC in LSU's 130 history or playing football.

Did you not watch a single game? Most of our games pretty much came down to which team had the ball last in order to score while LSU had one of the best one man offenses in CFB history
Remove Daniels and we score half what we scored this season while the other teams rip our defense apart.
Again. Literally the worst in history.
You're remembering what you want to remember.
Grambling 72-10
Mississippi State 41-14
Auburn 48-18
Army 62-0
Georgia State 56-14
That's 5 right there. Throw in beating Florida 52-35 and A&M 42-30 (while taking a mercy knee).

Yea he would not have gotten fired after two years
Ehhh, Orgeron got fired less than 2 years after putting together the best season in college football history.

By an AD who didn't hire him, and he also had a relatively small buyout of about $17 mil, and was making a fool of himself publicly.
LSU isn't paying a $90 mil buyout after two years. It's ridiculous to even suggest.

I am not sure the defense is better next year. House reminds me of Lou Tepper - schemes that no one understands and talent that is wasted.

Well, isn’t House responsible for bringing in defensive talent? So yes, it is his responsibility to get good quality players who can run his system - whatever that is. That said, his system this year generated results below the talent level of the players. There is no way our talent level was lower than every team we faced not named Army, Grambling, and Georgia State, but we were the worst defense on the field for every other game. That is on coaching.

House has been here for one full recruiting cycle. I'm not going to put our personnel issues on him nor should anyone really.

We have 9 wins. We ain't winning a bowl game if JD doesn't play. I think he does play though. People are acting like we already have 10

After the Ole Miss embarrassing defensive performance. House should have been let go. Only a SLIGHT improvement since. LSU needs to replace House so we have a legit chance at a SEC Championship and National Championship in 2024.

You can't say that without knowing who we're playing and who is sitting out for both teams. The bowl games are a complete crapshoot now with so many players "opting out"

3-4 games? Really
Absolutely. Do you not understand how terrible this defense was? You know how a bunch of those games would have turned out without Daniels? You think we would have been similar enough to the top offense in all of college football without the guy that just had one of the most insane video game seasons of all time? Maybe 5 wins. Sue me. A quarterback makes everything go. Wouldn’t have been the same. I do t think this is some revelation.
