anybody hearing anything? i met with a big time pitching coach last night as many of my girls have went/currently go to him.... who is close to shelby sunseri along with many others he has put into college. rumor is beth and lindsey and howard are all getting fired after the WCWS ends and woodward can start conducting interviews.

could be rumor could be true. guess we shall see. however most of us have been predicting this for awhile. the storm has been brewing for years now and most could see it.

woodward needs to talk with the okie state coach if he cannot lure alameda, etc here.

I think the best thing for the program would be if these rumors are true. My guess is that if Woodward was going to make a move he would have fired the softball staff the Monday after the season ended so he could begin to put out feelers.

My guess is that the deafening silence from the athletic administration building means that Beth will be back next season, undoubtedly with the dynamic duo of Dobson and Leftwich.

And I would think any coach capable of taking LSU softball to the next level would tell Woodward: “A condition of my taking this job is I want that idiot out from behind home plate. He’s more distracting and annoying to LSU than he is to the opposing team”

Friends of mine at the WCWS today say the superfan is front and center in the Washington fan area today. Can we give him to Seattle?

Can we trade him for Washington’s coach?

Doesn't make sense. If he was going to pull the trigger, he wouldn't need to wait til after the WCWS. There are plenty of coaches who are qualified who didn't make it to OKC. The hiring process could already be underway.

Yeah the season ended poorly. But can you really ditch a coach who led the program to a 10-seed, improved 7 games over the prior year, has almost the entire squad back, and has a good recruiting class?

Congrats to her. I frankly did not think she would get a P5 job.

But looking a little closer, NCST is a total rebuild. They were 18-35 this season. They are not swinging for the fences with a softball hire. Leftwich will probably make less there as a HC than she did at LSU as an assistant. That’s no doubt why she hung around for 13 years with no initiative to “move up.”

The NC State job had been open since March. And Leftwich just now takes it after the Regional exit? This is a definite sign that Woodward at least gave Torina a mandate: “Change your staff or you are jeopardizing your employment.” Otherwise Leftwich would be right here next season, NCST job open or not.

He needs to clean house in the softball program. Mediocrity never wins championships!

She's a slight upgrade from our old volleyball coach. I like that we get to host regionals and such but it's all about winning. Need better pitching and hitting. Was proud of the team effort against Louisiana after being down 0-6 but we would have gotten slammed against Washington just like Louisiana did in Super. I think we would have scored a few runs though. Doesn't matter. Ready to move on into a new era of LSU softball. Make it happen Scottie!

This aged well with Leftwich getting a P5 HC gig.

Leftwich made $80K at LSU. It’s highly doubtful she’s going to be a P5 HC making less than that.

Since you quoted me, you obviously read my previous post. I think it happened like I laid it out. This is no “grand promotion.” NCST was looking to make a quick hire on the cheap and SW has begun issuing ultimatums behind the scenes about the softball staff.

NCST’s program is there to fill Title IX requirements. If you think they are going to pay their softball coach considerably more than 80K, you’re naive. If you think they’re going to pay Lindsey Leftwich considerably more than that, you’re extremely naive.

So yes, I think my post “aged” quite well.

Also: why is every thread that mentions potential coaching changes with softball or mentions Sanchez—getting whacked or anchored?

You make grand assumptions with nothing to back it up. You don’t know what Woody demanded, or if he demanded anything at all. Being a P5 HC is a promotion over a defensive assistant in every sport in every conference in the NCAA.

Hell, Kelley Green made $105K three years ago at Coastal Carolina. They’re no juggernauts. I’m sure NC State outpays them.

LSU was third in the SEC in fielding percentage, led the SEC with 4 players on the all defensive team, and had the only Golden Glove winner in the conference.

What’s your problem with Leftwich?
