From Al.com: "Nick Saban, speaking in Birmingham on Monday, revealed Jalen Hurts had "a bit of a high ankle sprain" in Knoxville.

"They did a minor procedure to try to help the healing," Saban said. ""I think he will be out for one week, probably this bye week and he will probably be ready to start working again next week."

The injury occurred on Hurts 21-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter. He stayed in the game before eventually being replaced by Mac Jones in the fourth quarter."

Since Jalen Hurts had high ankle sprain surgery this week, I think we can assume that Alabama will likely shift away from the first half Tua/second half Hurts strategy. Also, with a less than viable Hurts backing him up, protecting Tua will be a priority. I think that means that we will see more pass plays with Tua throwing out of the pocket and less with him running and potentially reinjuring his knee. Not saying we won't see much running plays, but it won't be with Tua running the ball. Just an observation and I'm hoping that Aranda will be able to capitalize on this.

[note: edited headline. Hurts is not "out" but he is "hurt"}

Is that really a conscious "strategy" or just a luxury they've been able to enjoy because they beat the living frick out of everyone and the game is always out of reach in the 2nd?

lol
thats not "strategy". its oh look the game is completely in hand, lets put in the backup to keep him from getting mad at us and transferring. any game that was close is going to have Tua in as the starter.

Send in a 4th string linebacker and show the SEC what targeting really looks like.

I think that would be a mistake.

There's always a possibility that Saban's embellishing the severity of his injury for exactly that reason, so that we prepare a little less for him.

He's played in every game thus far. No reason to think he won't play in this one.

You know I don't wish injury on anyone. I think Tua will be tested to the max but let me remind you guys of something.
1. Miami was supposed to have the Best QB in that Rosen kid and we beat that arse!
2. Auburn was supposed to run us out of the Stadium because they were so fricking good.
3. Georgia and Fromm come in here and all they could talk about was his efficiency at like close to 80% and how they were just going to kick our arse in Tiger Stadium
4. Mississippi State and Fitzgerald were supposed to cause mass confusion and Mississippi State hang 25 on LSU. That shite did not happen at all we had that motherfricker scared as frick to throw the ball at the end.

SO, do y'all think Aranda, Greedy, Fulton, Battle and our defense is going on vacation or something and not going to show? Bring Alabama's untested arse down here.

When we jump up 10 nothing and the first Quarter and Saban is throwing his head set around and screaming at everyone halfway through the first quarter, they will feel pressure like the have never felt! Then, those billboards will pay off because BAMA will be EXPOSED!

Jalen Hurts undergoes ankle surgery

I think there's reason...

Calling it now:
If Bama thinks they're gonna lay back their launching Bombs at LSU Secondary..big mistake, LSU should be able to pick some of those off and shut down any attempts for quick TD by TideTards. (However we heed to score and take advantage of tunovers)

That's a fair point, but, in light of Tua's knee issue, there is a strategic benefit in that Tua can go 100% over a smaller time window thus reducing likelihood of re-injury. Being fresh might also contribute to his lack of mental mistakes, too.

Exactly, Tua was always going to play all 4 quarters in this game.

Tua plays with abandonded recklessness. that's who he is. Lord Saban made his peace with that and will not restrain him. that's why he went all out to keep hurts on the team.

the only thing that will slow tua down is a gimpy knee and the mighty LSU defense!

Well that's a broken link but point taken.

It's a tricky situation. I would monitor the situation and not assume he's not going to play.

Once again Jalen did not have a surgery, only an injection.

Not me. Tua’s a good kid, doesn’t deserve that type of malicious BS

they will try like hell to run the ball and throw from pocket protection. I do hope we get some pressure on him.
