I'm surprised he won 70 % of his games being so hands-off.
The staff won those games.

Imagine having to play for a coach that doesn’t show up to the facility and doesn’t know who you are. What a fricking nightmare.
I don't really give a frick if I'm getting paid a million a year. I have a job to do that I'm getting paid for, I don't need constant badgering to do my job. In my 40 year career, rarely did my supervisor tell me what to do. I knew what needed to be done, and that's why I was hired for the job. That's called being a professional. We can't expect teenagers to understand how to be professional yet. They're needy and entitled at the same time.

How did people not know this? It was obvious to tell by his body language and interactions he never knew the game plan, scripted plays etc.
If you couldn’t see that by his actions and interactions you have never worked with a team or led one. Even people in outside media mentioned his affinity for not being in the office and he wasn’t recruiting….He needed to be fired after last year!

Those backing SW need to read the article.
Shouldn’t the AD have been all over this?

Good for you. When your supervisor was recruiting you did he know your name?

No, they just want you to know their name and remember talking with them for an hour 2 weeks prior.

as I mentioned, not taking up for Kelly, he's a bum and a thief, and I know there's a medium somewhere, but these kids are looking for the highest bidder and that's where their loyalty lies
You realize you would be Brian Kelly in this situation, huh

How dare they have such high expectations?! Sounds like they are spoiled like the rest of us!

I was never recruited by anyone who would be my immediate supervisor.
But for a million a year, you could call me Late for Supper, I wouldn't care.
I do remember one time when a supervisor tried to tell me what to do, I went right to the director and asked him if he wanted me off the project. When he said no, and asked why, I said because [name] is trying to tell me what to do. The director laughed and told me not to worry and proceeded to call [name] into his office. He never tried to give me any direction after that.

Are you trying to impress people by repeating about how no one tells you what to do? I’m not sure how that’s relevant…

The least I would expect is for the guy who I talked to about a job earlier in the process, when he wanted me to come to work for him instead of one of his competitors, is for him to remember that he met me before.
So I'm guessing you have never been in a situation where multiple companies are via for your services? I thought fast-food fry cooks were in hot demand.

It's about professionalism, knowing your job and keeping feelings out of it.
We can't expect teenagers to be professionals, but we pay them like they are. It's a bad combination.

Imagine giving a million dollars to a 17 year old who can barely read.
I'm not defending Kelly, I'm just pointing out how crazy absurd the whole thing is at this point. It's unsustainable, and will probably soon change.

Maybe Scott WAS all over it, Kelly didn't change, and the result was the 2nd half of A&M, after which the plug was pulled.

What does this have to do with remembering recruits names? Every school is paying for recruits, it’s not like we have this huge albatross that no one else bears
