You said that you like the fact the Brian Kelly is not in "win now" mode as he is going into is third season which is just a dumb thing to say.

It’s not. Pretty simple - you want immediate success, while I’d prefer to see us have long-term success & see our program continue to win after BK decides to hang it up.

You want BK to win 1 now, retire, & then we have a couple down years until the next guy wins one. Thats not guaranteed & unsustainable.

Ole Miss may never compete again in the SEC after Kiffin leaves. I like what BK is doing & hopefully that means multiple natty’s in the next 5-6 years.

they are about to get the "regular" fans involved at the $50 - $100 a month level

Good luck with that.

My concern is that they expect the Louisiana kids to sing "Hey Fighting Tigers" & get on board for good ole LSU & a hamburger. The problem that scares me is that the Texas & Georgia's coming in with steak money to cherry pick. That will be the difference between 12-0 & 10-2.

Keep increasing that fund every year out of necessity and it WILL come crashing down at some point.

You pay a Barrow 7 figures and every DL on your team will say “what about me?”

Maybe Bayou Traditions could spend some money on fixing their website and offering better merch than the crap they currently offer. Also, provide something besides shitty merchant discounts for dedicated year long donors.

Did LSU fix the defensive depth chart this offseason? Nope.

Did LSU blow 1/8th of its pot so idiots like you could feel good that we signed the highest ranked DT who actually SUCKS stat wise and won’t be worth 1,500$ much less 1.5 million.
So please stop with this idiotic notion that we broke or Kelly is being stubborn. The numbers are right there for you to read and comprehend and if you can’t, I doubt you can because MUH DIDNT SIGN DT, then ask someone to help you. Jesus

It’s not.

It is dumb. He is going into his 3rd season as head coach, and you are saying it's a good thing that he is not trying to win now. So when we get a new head coach he shouldn't try to win until his 5th year? LSU coaches should be trying to win a national championship, and at the bare minimum make the playoff every single year.

That's not what I want. I want LSU to be in "win now" mode every single year., especially when it's the 3rd year of the head coach.

I don't give a shite about Ole Miss and never suggested that LSU should be doing the same.

BK is not buying players. Give the money to Mulkey. She will spend it wisely.

Bayou Traditions budgeted $8 million for the roster this season. The median amount that SEC collectives will spend on football teams next season is $10 million. He estimated the top end will be $13-15 million

So we're spending half of what the top schools are and we're expecting a top school result.

quote:

Bayou Traditions budgeted $8 million for the roster this season, though it is not expected to reach that number

quote:

“We will pay players, and we can afford to do so,” the source close to the collective said

quote:

Bayou Traditions had enough money to meet their asking price

quote:

It doesn't come down to one player, right? It comes down to a holistic, comprehensive approach that if you mismanage the funding and you go ahead and you overspend in some areas on your team, how do you come back and build the rest of your roster around that, because word goes around, right? All of a sudden, you can have a lot of issues.”

Now that they've made it very clear that they have more money to spend this year and are choosing not to, what's stopping the current players from asking for more?

Do you think you would be a skeptic with any strategy they pursued?

There is a downside to each.

This will continue to go up just like coaches' salaries.

So they have $8M, but don’t plan on spending it all?
I don't believe that's what this means. I think they budgeted to be able to spend around $8 million, but in reality they only received $4 million. I hope I'm wrong, but that's how I read this.

The problem isn’t do we have enough money. We do for the right players. We struck out on DT but I don’t want to throw high 6 figures at an average at best player because we got in a bidding war. You spend that money keeping quality players on the team and signing high end HS players that you can build a program around.

We don’t want to be like the Yankees and Gay & M, who throw big paydays out and then can’t make the playoffs.

Exactly, put your money where your mouth is. $20 a month is not a big ask.

The point of the article is to grill the fans like tigerdroppings posters to quit crying about purchasing Defensive tackles when it would be an afterthought if the every day fan that can afford it contributed. Amazing the thread is still full of people melting over our NIL given the intent of the article .

Eventually the big money guys will realize there is no return for their millions. Then the poor states like La will never get the everyday fan to offset the money.

For frick’s sake, man.

His point was clear - he’s talking about the compromises you make when balancing short-term success vs. long-term success/sustainability. That doesn’t mean Kelly isn’t “trying to win.” It just means he’s not going to sacrifice long-term success for a chance at short term-success. Which is a good thing if, as you said, you expect LSU to “make the playoff every single year.”

I know what he’s trying to say. He just worded it in the worst possible way. Saying that Brian Kelly isn’t in “win now” mode is just a dumb thing to say that virtually no one would agree with. I never said I expect LSU to make the playoff every single year. I said they should be trying to make the playoff every year, which I believe they are.
