Will’s trying to hard here. If the Tigers win enough games in March, the SEC will make them play three games in consecutive days

ETA: Trying way to hard.

Sure it is... Either the academics suffer or the basketball preps suffer, and guess which one is likely at this time of the season?

Also, if he didn't bitch about things, they wouldn't change... Is it a massive deal? Probably not.

But give me the coach that goes to bat for his guys every time

Why didn't he raise this issue when it first was scheduled? It sounds to me like he's looking for an advance excuse for a loss.

So the players have Thursday and Friday to recover and prepare. What exactly is the problem? It's not like they are playing a late Wednesday night game and have to get up the next morning for an 11am game.

It’s not just a question of whether there’s time to recover/game prep. You have to look at it in relative terms.

Texas A&M plays at home vs. Kentucky tonight at 7 PM, then they come to BR to play LSU Saturday morning. Their players get home at 10-11 PM tonight and can go through their normal game prep on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Travel to BR Friday evening, ready to play Saturday morning.

LSU plays at Florida tomorrow night at 8 PM. Our players get home at 2-3 AM Thursday morning. They are then more limited on Thursday due to the late night and shorter recovery time. Normal Friday practice, ready to play Saturday morning.

So A&M has Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to prep while LSU has (limited) Thursday and Friday. You can chalk this up to “that’s how TV scheduling works,” to a point. But Wade’s gripe is that in 9 weeks of SEC basketball (x14 teams), there have only been 3 cases of teams playing a late Wednesday game followed by an early Saturday game (LSU twice, Auburn once) and LSU is the only team that’s had to play a late Wednesday road game followed by an early Saturday game.

Doing the math, the short turnaround makes up 2% of the SEC basketball schedules, but somehow LSU gets 2 out of 3 and both of them start with road games? There’s no reason that should happen.

Jeez, I tend to agree more and more with other fans about how whiney some LSU folks are.
CWW had to find something to take light off him, I guess.......

So many assholes in this thread.

“Fans” complain that will wade throws his players under the bus.

Next week, will wade sticks up for his players and calls out some sec scheduling bullshite and “fans” call him a whiner.

So many fake “fans”.

It’s going to be different when your team is actually going through it, like Sean Payton with the Sunday night/Thursday nights

I bet it fixes this next year

Well that’s because you’re an idiot. He’s doing his job

I don't think some of you have ever been in an airport or traveled for a living.

LSU will not get back to Baton Rouge from the Wednesday night late road game until Thursday morning about 3am-4am. They will be behind on sleep and coming off a road trip. They will have one day to recover and have to get ready to fly again on Friday afternoon, make yourself get some sleep Friday night after being up all night traveling on Wed-Thurs. This does not take into account any early morning classed they may have on Thursday or Friday that may keep them from getting more sleep. Also, practice schedule has to fit in here somewhere. It's a tight schedule and we should not being playing the early game on the road Saturday after playing on the road late Wednesday night. Logistics matter in a fair schedule. Manipulating a schedule to create a logistical disadvantage for one specific team multiple times should get called out. The SEC office is either incompetent or a bunch of brazen cheaters. I tend to think the latter since they never get called out in a way that brings attention to their annual schedule scams.

The light off him? Taking over a 2 win program, wins an SEC championship in year 2, has them in 2nd places in year 3 and set for the first back to back tournament appearances since 05/06.

How horrible!

While i agree with him for competitive advantage reasons, using it for student athlete welfare is pretty laughable. The time of the game on saturday has very little impact on student athlete welfare

Why would you say that? He's going to fit practices in to a smaller timeframe. Of course there is travel time. All of that makes it harder on the player.

Just FYI, LSU is playing at home on Saturday.

The back to back travel schedule was the Vandy/Auburn games. LSU came out with tremendous energy vs. Auburn. It was the Tuesday game that followed vs Mizzou where the fatigue was evident. Luckily, LSU plays on Wednesday next week (albeit on the road).

I agree with Wade that the 11:00 am start after a late Wednesday road trip should be avoided. That seems like an easy fix. He’s just upset right now because his guys are pretty beaten up. Taylor/Manning aren’t full strength. Mays is more hurt than people realize and Days takes a physical pounding every game.

Still, it’s no excuse. The NCAAT allows only 1 day rest between two games. If you want to go far then you better learn how to ramp it back up on very quick turnaround. FWIW, two of LSU’s best performances were on quick turnarounds (@ Auburn and vs Rhode Island)

There was travel time regardless of when the game was. He isnt going to fit practices into a smaller time frame. He will have a practice friday and a walk-thru saturday. That was going to be the case whether they played at 6pm or 8pm on wednesday

The issue is that no other team in the league is having to deal with it.

Just like when SP bitched about it in the past despite the saints handling their business, it’s all about the level playing field. The us against it all mentality is usually a good motivator and playing poorly isn’t excused

And I expect we’ll handle our business again. Still smart to highlight it so it doesn’t happen in the future
