sometimes it does.

depends.

do they have enough on us to hammer us?
then no it won’t be enough.

do they think/know we did some shady shite, but can’t prove anything?
might be enough because something is better than nothing

It won’t make a difference either way which is why it doesn’t make any sense for any program to self impose a ban on themselves.

If the NCAA finds something worth hammering you for, they will hammer you and not care what you self imposed.

IMO, bad decision by LSU.

It matters if you get banned in a 5-5 season or a 10-2 season.

In a normal year, sure. Those 14 extra practices and time between is huge.

This year, with only 5 extra practices for a bowl game, a team full of young guys who got to develop on the field and a depleted roster with injuries and opt-outs, there was no reason to add one more game. It wasn’t a mistake to pass, especially with so many staff spots open and recruiting left to close.

Let the staff focus on nailing those things and look to the Spring for development.

O also said he chose this year for the Bowl ban because he didn't think 5-5 was deserving of postseason play.

I
my point exactly and why we should have accepted a bowl this year

What’s our share of bowl revenue this year? Bowl ban cost Ole Miss about 8 mill. That’s a helluva fine and better be enough.

Not happening. Especially not happening for stuff that began in 2012.

It’s just a confirmation of guilt. Basically bending over and spreading wide.

This is true. You usually see a freshman or sophomore emerge after the additional reps. Our guys already played meaningful games

Maybe. Probably not.

1 more bowl ban and another 5 scholarships for 3 years each probably gets it done. I hope so at least.

Because we finished strong, better chance. Lost millions in revenue

The guys wanted the 2020 season to be over, which makes me completely OK with the decision. Great we finished strong but we needed to just put this one in the books and re-calibrate.

Maybe more scholarships just simply so the NCAA can say they did something, but I am almost positive Woodward called Emmert off the record and asked if they ban themselves this year will that be enough to make sure they don’t get banned from further bowls.

Correct. Because if you recall just 4 days before the bowl ban was announced Woodward was saying they were looking forward to playing in a Bowl Game.....
