There are 5 outfielders that can play.

The infields biggest question is who is playing second and there are 3 to 5 guys competing for that spot.
1st base might have 3 or 4 guys see time this year between the DH and catcher rotation.
The pitching is deep but we don’t know who the dogs are yet or if there are any friends n the new comers. That CC will work itself out.
There may be 6/7 left handed pitchers that will see time, a lot of time.

Not sure we can score as many runs as last year, and definitely not sure our pitching can finish as strong as last year. Maybe that’s because we were national champions and and everyone contributed!
The team will be very talented, hopefully they find the formula for success !

good answers....i agree

Not saying we won't be a contender again, but talent-wise we won't be better than last season.

Proven talent, absolutely
Potential talent, remains to be seen.

I think talent-wise we'll be close to last season, but there will be some definite growing pains, especially when SEC play starts.

I think overall this will be a more talented team than last year. That doesn’t equate to being better though.

Op, while being a dumbass, does have somewhat of a point. Experience is a hard thing to replace and while the replacements for guys like Beloso and Dugas probably have more talent it’s hard to replace that experience without growing pains.

Deeper doesn't mean more talented.

Like we brought in a lot of talented players this offseason, but none of them are in the same stratosphere as Crews and Skenes.

Not an insult on them, just mad respect for how out-of-this-world Crews and Skenes were. Most teams pray to have one of those type of talents to win a championship, we had them both.

How do you agree if you spent the first 5 pages of the thread not knowing who was even on the team?

You are either trolling or an idiot or both.
LSU through most of the regular season had pitching and defensive issues with everyone but Skenes but still managed to finish good enough for a top 8 seed. This year other than a Skenes type pitcher, this pitching staff has a good chance of being better overall. Defense will probably be similar to last year’s group that struggled at times. Offense will probably drop off some initially, but with the transfers coming in, and hitting being Jay’s coaching strength it probably won’t stay down long. Baseball is very unpredictable, but I could easily see this team back in Omaha.

And even still, had to absolutely scratch and claw to win one. This team may end up being better and not have the same success.

You don't think it be like that sometimes... But it do.

I think maybe we found the random, in-game, schizo down voter.

National championships are VERY hard to win. We had such a great roster, but still needed some breaks and great plays to win it all.

Two players don’t adjust the curve much when you’re talking about overall talent of a team.

And overall talent of the team doesn’t necessarily predict the success they will have.

No we don’t have the top 2 picks in next years draft on this team. The pitching staff is still more talented this year than last year even accounting for Skenes.

Crews is the best position player in LSU history. You don’t replace that but the overall talent in the outfield is still higher this year than last year.

Whoever lands at DH will have more “talent” than Beloso. That doesn’t mean they will perform as well as the 30 year old vet did though.

You didn’t believe in Dylan Crews before he suited up?

Wow, just wow.

Then why even start this thread? The only thing anyone is going to be able to tell you is the ratings, skill level, and potential of the players we have. Only a select few have stats to back it up.

This may be one of the worst questions I’ve seen on this board.

quote:

hope he can get his hitting up this year. He can get passed by a younger guy imo. His ba needs improvement

So a proven bat like Pearson isn’t enough and a FR could take his place.. but people tell you how big of a recruit Cam Johnson is and you say he’s done nothing in the SEC. That contradicts each other.

quote:

Skenes was literally the best pitcher in college before he got to lsu.

No he wasn’t. He was considered a bigger bat than pitcher coming into LSU.

quote:

flopped(kling)

So you’re already deeming a freshman that missed a chunk of the season with a hamstring injury in a loaded OF is a bust? Wow.

Our pitching staff as a whole should be more improved than last years team. You won’t see the offense that can put double digits up on a daily basis. Jay will manufacture runs with what our offense can do.

You get on a sports message board asking a question with little information and start calling people shite. How do you expect them to respond?
