Daniels is the CFB all time single season leader in passing efficiency at 208.0. Better than Burrow in 2019. Yes, he had better playmakers than Nuss, but he was also that good in 2023. Go back and watch his '23 highlights. He made a lot of beautiful throws over over the course of the season.

Lacy’s comp% when targeted over 2 seasons with Daniels was 68%.
It dropped to 56% when Nuss was throwing to him in 2024.
Maybe you don’t know how constants & variables work
Look at this another way
Lacy was a primary receiving target for Nuss 2024 drawing the better defenders
Daniel's targeted two first round draft picks which drew the best defenders. Lacy was not drawing the premier defensive backs during Daniels two seasons
Respectfully disagree with the % theory
2022 Lacy 24 receptions
2023 Lacy 30 receptions
2024 Lacy 58 receptions
By no means am I saying Nuss is better than Daniels but Daniels definitely had way better receivers to throw to

You're maybe forgetting one thing...he was our #1 target in 24 so faced tougher defenders and got more volume
Let's not pretend he was an elite #1

Both LSU and Nuss finished the season strong!
2025 LSU Tigers-- let's GEAUX!

Zero.
He’s better than all four still playing.

That's completely up to Nuss.

Lacy was the constant & Nussmeier was the variable
So in a maths expression, we're talking about either y = x + c, or y = cx. Therefore x = Nussmeier performance, c = Lacy performance, a y = game outcome.
It's clear that if Lacy was in a zone, his catches had a multiplying, not additive effect on Nuss's game stats.

I Like Nuss but he is going to have to keep it & run it at least 2 or 3 times a game to keep the defense honest. He doesn't need to run as much as Burrow or Daniels. As he is now the defenses don't need to worry about that threat.

Really, all LSU needs from him is to cut down on mistakes, and run when easy yardage is there and no one is open.
The big requirement is a functional run game with better line blocking. We’ve had virtually no run threats on a play by play basis. Development of that phase of the offense would add a dimension that defenses could no longer ignore in defensive schemes. I think Nuss has the tools if he has run game support to keep the defenses honest.

I'd rather see the supporting cast improve honestly

Yes. He needs to work on his pre-snap and post-snap immediate reads.
He has thrown into coverage several times right after the snap where the defense dropped out from a different look.

he just needs to stop with the careless turnovers that cost LSU the game against aggies and florida

Ditto. What he did with no deep threat, weak IOL and inconsistent running game should make you very positive with the changes they are making on Oline and the receivers they now have. I think he has a better season even though his numbers don’t have to increase.

Totally agree about the defense. If we can get to a top 30 defense and get some turnovers, the offense will be great.
People keep trashing the run game, but Durham averaged 5.5 ypc this year, top 5 in the SEC. Let’s see if the new RBs can match. The main issue is red zone offense, particularly running the ball from the five yard line in. We need better red zone running.

Did Lacy change position? Did he go from being 3rd option to being the 1 option? Did defense play him different. Sorry Lester, more than 1 variable.

I know you are in your wheelhouse by taking the contrarian view on Nuss, but you are discounting the WR room too much. Just look at the way our receivers are dominating the NFL right now. Our group was solid last year, but not spectacular as it had been for both our Heisman qbs.
Nuss will benefit from what appears to be a better WR group. I think Nuss will work hard in the off-season to improve himself the way the 2 Heisman winners did. He needs to improve pre-snap reads and can do that if he puts in the time. In-play adjustments, as well. Daniels made huge strides between seasons at this, and hopefully has mentored Nuss to do the same. The "bad" Nuss got flustered too many times. Having better command during duress can improve with understanding and being prepared. I am hopeful.
A caveat to his improvement will be Oline play. It is hard to get a feel for that at this time.

I believe a lot of Nuss’ performance in 2025 depends on the improvements needed in the defense. The last two years would have been exponentially better if our defense was much better.

His confidence is one of his biggest strengths. It allows him to make some tremendous throws into really tight windows. It also can be his biggest weakness because sometimes instead of just accepting the big play may not be there he passes up the easy/open throw in search of the longer/lower % throw. That issue was exacerbated when he would get pressure up the middle.
Outside of Nic Anderson, LSU is not going to have a lot of "big" physical WRs next season. What they will have is guys who are pretty good in space. Getting them the ball pretty quickly on a pass that only travels 5 yards in the air but allows them space to RAC may be a better option more often than not than trying to wait for them to come open on a long out breaking route.
Nuss has a good arm. He's often accurate. He WANTS to make the big play all the time. But sometimes the big play starts out by just simply getting into the hands of your playmakers quickly.

This year could've helped his progression in the sense that everyone knew he was throwing the ball due to a lack of run support. If that changes he's gonna get better windows to throw in. I think the mistakes coincide with how we were 1D and he had tight windows all season.
