I would also add in, where would you rather work? I'm not familiar with Oxford. It's got to be better than Baton Rouge.

Still better chance at LSU than Ole Miss

Ole Miss is currently #7 with an easy schedule ahead of them. Kiffin will make the playoffs. The only game he lost this year was to Georgia, and he was leading in the 4th quarter. I don't think Ole Miss will win it all this year, but Kiffin isn't quitting in the middle of a playoff run to come over here in the hopes of putting LSU in a similar situation in a couple of years.

1. Best open job in the country
2. $120 mil contract
3. Better recruiting
4. Larger alumni base
5. Greater resources
6. Passionate fan bast
7. A real SEC level FB stadium
8. A legitmate chance to win a NC, not just finish in the top 10.

It comes down to whether he has the burning desire to win a natty or is comfortable and not wanting to be under the gun.

Ole Miss can slip into the playoffs but they aren’t going to win it all. Why? Because you need more talent than he will ever get at ole Miss.

Pull up the 247 Roster Talent composite and a team in the top 10 will win it. The only exception in the last 25 years is Michigan in 2023 when they were 14th. Ole Miss is consistently ranked in the 20”s.

Lane knows this.

So, is he comfortable and just wants to play it safe? Or, does he have a burning desire to win? He said yesterday it’s not about the money.

In this new NIL age we find ourselves in the jump from Ole Miss to LSU isn't what it once was. The field has been leveled and most of the things that made college football great have been cast aside for money. Tradition, history, and prestige still play a role but only to the extent that LSU can match an offer.

Having said that, LSU is still LSU and Ole Miss is still Ole Miss. The two are not the same. All things being equal it's still a better job than Penn State, Florida, and certainly Ole Miss. LSU still has fertile recruiting grounds with the ability to go national as needed. Saturday night in Death Valley is still one of the brightest stages in sports.

So while it might not be the job it was before NIL, it's still one of the best jobs in the country. The job will pay well but there will be pressure. Not just pressure to win. Pressure to win the whole damn thing. The next HC has to be hungry and fearless.

He just gave a press conference last night and begged the fans to sell out their 60,000 seat stadium this week

That’s all you need to know

Good points. And I will give him credit: Moscona made a good one yesterday. 10 or even five years ago, I would have said you can’t win a championship at Ole Miss. in this new world of college football, I think it’s possible.
LSU has proven it’s about more than the money though.

There’s an old saying; do you want to be a big fish in a little pond or a little fish in a big pond? Well LK wants to be a big fish in a big pond so he leaves OM.

Best chances of winning a Naty at the 3 apparent suitors.

1-LSU
2-Florida
3-Ole Miss

They all will fire him for a fair to good result. All have high expectations. Ole Miss might give him an extra year before terminating him.

He’s leaving Ole Miss. He will either coach the gators or the tigers.

I would prefer Dan Lanning, but Kiffin is my number two. But then again, what do I know?

Don’t misunderstand me. Why couldn’t you read the dozens of other threads with this and topic instead of starting another one?

On one hand Kiffin has had success around Pete Carrol and Nick Saban. But on his own he struggled at USC, the Raiders, and still hasn’t really done anything at Ole Miss or other stops along the way. He is a solid coach but I think his ceiling matches better with Ole Miss vs LSU. He is better than Kelly and if he gets a solid DC and can recruit then I believe he could do ok. But it’ll be whether or not he thinks he can do it here better than there.

If you don’t want the pressure then you’re not the guy we need to be hiring
