Why was Kirklin not used as a QB over the last two years?

Kirklin was an excellent QB at Lutcher HS! His stats were great! LSU has missed having a mobile QB who has great passing skills. Kirklin has both! Even though he has not played at QB for the last 4 years, he showed he still has it! Coach O blew it! And Jontre showed true leadership last night. The players obviously love him! The fans missed out!

The last two years were '20 and '21. Burrow's last season was 2019. '20 and '21 were horror stories at QB!

I was surprised at the air he could put under the ball. Noticeably better deep ball than the starter.

Yes, I watched the whole game, not like many LSU fans who turned it off in disgust!

Indeed, Kirklin was rusty, and the offense was not running smoothly! Who would have expected a guy who hasn't played QB in 4 years to be sharp? However he showed flashes of brilliance at times. He ran well, and showed he can still throw accurately. He threw that last pass from the 10 yd line to the K State 35 and hit Hilton running at full speed with a perfect pass! Try that some time!

I'm not going to say he would have been a surefire starter.

But, I'll say this- dude was a beast running the ball. If he could spin off, he would. Was surprising how agile he was. And... the arm. It looked rough early, but not as rough as I expected. That deep int was inexperience, not inadequate arm. Needed more air, which he later showed he has.

Pass to Nabors for the TD was about as solid as anything we see in college, and the last bomb showed he has a cannon.

Someone in pregame talk said "30 yd bombs", suggesting he had no arm. I'd say his arm is better than Johnson's (ARM, not skill or awareness).

I wonder how he'd have fared, if this happened midseason and he'd had a few games to play.

It would have been nice to see that final play-call used in the regular season, maybe against Bama. It would have scored. NOBODY is expecting your gadget pass from a WR to go 60 yds in the air...

He did well at times at Wide Receiver the last two years. I think that was his best opportunity to get playing time. I don't think he would have been well suited for QB in College.

Well, if he would have connected on that long interception he threw you would have a lot more people in your corner. But, nope overall.

If what you wrote were true, fans missed out and O blew it. If Kirklin was such a great QB talent, then the stupidest individual in this whole farce of an idea wasn’t O. It wasn’t all the collective offensive coaching minds over four years at LSU. It was Kirklin himself!

If he was qualified to be the savior of LSU football, and was overlooked by so many for so long, he should have transferred to a school where they wouldn’t suppress his talent! This didn’t happen, because he wasn’t, and even he knew it.

Kirklin was and is a great kid who just added to Tiger lore. Thanks Kirklin! We love you.

Kirklin became one of my favorite and most respected players at LSU. I love his attitude. I love the leadership he showed and the way he approached the bowl game. I recognize that he was one of only a couple of players available. He went out there, along with a host of his teammates and played hard. They were Fighting Tigers. We should be proud.

That said, LSU had a loaded QB room. Kirklin, unfortunately, was just not at the level of the QB's in front of him. But they should put his quote up somewhere in the football building.

"We are Fighting Tigers"

He throw a better deep ball than Max. His last throw was around 60 yrds in the air

This guy watches the worst LSU football game of my lifetime and concludes that the WR playing QB should have gotten more time at QB. :
